Dr. John Emil Del-Zio

Dr. John Emil Del-Zio, 96, of Boca Raton passed away on Tuesday, December 31, 2013. John was born in Astoria, NY, son of Nicholas Del-Zio and Maria Raffalla Del-Zio. He graduated from New York University and Marquette University School of Dentistry. After graduation from Marquette, where he received his doctorate in dental surgery, he received a commission in the US Navy and went on active duty at Sampson Naval Training Center. On assignment with the "Fighting Seabees", he saw duty in the South Pacific. John practiced dentistry in Astoria, NY and Ft. Lauderdale, FL with his brother Dr. Arthur D. Del-Zio. He was a 62 year member of the Lions Club and served as Club President, Past District Governor, and Past President of the Florida Lions Eye Bank. John was preceded in death by his brother Dr. Arthur D. Del-Zio and 2 sisters Angelina Langone and Helen Evelyn Kramer. He is survived by his wife Doris (nee Newhouse), daughters: Denise (Edward) Ferency, Dr. Deborah Del-Zio, & Tammy (Stephen) Moon, 10 grandchildren: Kristin (Michael) Jasmin, Evan Berard, Christopher Ferency, David Ferency, Courtney Berard, Jessica Berard, Lauren Berard, Alicia Berard, Stephen M. Moon II, Megan Moon, and John Moon, and 2 great-grandchildren Anthony Berard Koniuszewsky and Connor Jasmin. A Funeral Mass will be celebrated at 10:30 am on Saturday, January 11th at Ascension Catholic Church in Boca Raton. In lieu of flowers donations may be made to the Florida Lions Eye Bank Research Department, PO Box 012880, Miami, FL 33101 or the Marquette University School of Dentistry in Milwaukee Wisconsin.
