Wow! Can't believe so much time has passed since Houston left us. At work, "Take a Bow", which was always Houston's closing song, is in the Juke Box. Every time I hear it, I stop and remember him. Miss you, Buddy! --Gene

We met Houston when he was playing
on the Norway. We listened to him
every night. We also flew down and
saw him again at the Tropics. He was just wonderful to us. We really
miss him alot. We just got back from a cruise to Bermuda and we talked about how much we miss him
as there was no one with as much
class entertaining on this cruise.
He was a class act.. Lee and Kelli

As I sit here reading the newest entries, I too can not believe that a years has past. It seems like only yesterday that he was at home behind the Piano Bar at Tropics playing away as happy as can be. It's just unbelieveable the amounts of hearts that he has touched and the amount of people that still talk about him. It's almost everyday that he in one way or another comes into my thoughts. He turly was a God send and will missed forever.

Ronnie Shy is so right! He taught us the song by Madonna, "Take a Bow." It was always his closing song. I always looked forward to hearing it, not just because he did it so well, but because it meant it was the end of our night. Ronnie and I loved that song.
The night I heard of Houston's passing to the next world, our regular closing song at Cubby Hole was preempted by "Take a Bow" in Houston's honor. Many of my customers understood exactly why I did that, much to Houston's honor.
That song will forever hold a special place in my heart. Houston, you may now "Take a Bow" before the heavenly chorus you are now accompanying.

I only had the honor of meeting Houston once while on vacation in Fort Lauderdale. I was visiting a friend who works at Tropics. Houston made me feel very welcome and was a wonderful entertainer who played my favorite songs. I always remember that moment when I think of Florida. I was very sad to hear of his passing and send my thoughts to his family and friends

I knew you for a very short time, but once in a while you meet people who make a difference in your life and you are one of those souls.
You were happy and your smile showed an inner peace. It was contagious and you instantly made me feel good when I was alone on the road. I always made a point of coming to see you at Tropics when I was in Florida. The e mails you sent were always great and I am proud to have been able to call you friend. I know in my heart that you are home now and this is where your real life begins. Life here is a hard journey, but when you meet people such as yourself it always makes it a little easier.
Thank You.....And thanks for playing Moonlight in Vermont for me!

We met Houston onboard the NCL Norway Sept. 2002. To say the least, we met a wonderful person, and a friend, along with many other good friends while onboard. Houston, you lifted our lives, spirits, and we will always remember you for the smiles you freely gave to others. Who could listen to him sing, play the piano, or even just set and talk with him, without leaving a better person, happy, smiling, and feeling great about life in general.
You leave us sad, as we will miss you always. However, I am sure, someone, somewhere, you are entertaining, causing others to be full of joy, happiness, and bringing smiles to the faces of all those around you.
Spirits be with you,
Keith and Sheila

We were deeply saddened to hear of Houston's death, we had such a short time with him. He made every minute count for us as we enjoyed our evenings with him and our friends Ruby, Chip, John, Keith and Sheila on the Norway cruise. We were priveledged to hear his voice again and enjoy his company when we flew in to visit and he reserved a table for us at the Tropics to hear him last February. He was one of those special people that you come across once in a lifetime. We still smile when we think of him saying to us that he has to "sparkle plenty"! We will truly miss him and hold him in our hearts always. Our thoughts and prayers are with his family.

REMEMBERING HOUSTON
Smiles…
With a twinkle in the eye,
And the grace of Princess Di,
That’s our Houston.
Fun…
Running tennis balls full court
Sending crazy (blonde) email jokes
That’s our Houston.
Music…
Bringing passion to each day,
Broadway, blues or jazz he’d play,
Bravo, Houston!
Joy…
Infectious happiness to share
Dissolving sadness or despair,
Our gift from Houston.
Food…
Silly diets were a bust
As for his recipes we’d lust,
Chez Houston.
Pizzazz…
Accessorize, dear girls
Eat your heart out, boys with curls
This tiara is Houston’s!
Style…
Center stage, under sequins and jewels
Heart-centered integrity always fueled
The flame of Houston.
Hope…
Turning loneliness to laughter
With silver linings in each chapter
Of Life with Houston.
Love…
The deepest touch upon our souls
The brightest light around us holds
The embrace of Houston.
Spirit…
Joining Angels in the skies
Blowing kisses to comfort “goodbyes”
That’s our Houston.
Remembering…
We honor you each time
We live with faith and love and smiles--
True music to Houston.
So…
Thank you, dear friend,
Until we surely meet again,
God bless you, Houston!
Love you, Elizabeth

We saw Houston for the first time while he was performing at Tropics. He always had a warm smile for everyone. I was lucky enough to become one of his tennis partners, thanks to our neighbor, Hank. He surprised me with his speed and no-quit attitude. I will miss his "hi sweety", big smile and music.
Love Adam and Richard.

What a tragedy for us all to have lost you. Over the years you showed me many kindnesses, recommending me for jobs and always giving me your support. Your generosity of spirit, your unique talents and indelible personality shall be sorely missed by all who knew you. As Father Bill pointed out: sometimes God needs some good people by His side. I sincerely hope you and Dana will find each other wherever you are and make the angels glad to hear the music you will make.

"He who sings, prays twice!" - Saint Augustine
And sing and play so well he did!
I had the honor of working with Houston when I worked at 825. On occassion he would ask me to play some sheet music he brought in because he didn't read music. Then he'd ask me to play it once more. Then he'd sit there and play it 1000 times better than I had. The world has lost a true talent, but I'm sure that he's the best player in Heaven backing up the Angelic Choir!
Gonna miss ya lots, "Buddy!"

Houston, you brought such happiness into this world. The only unhappiness left behind is that you are gone. But your music lingers on, as does your enigmatic smile...very DiVinci! Thank you for being a friend to us all, and for making our gatherings always times of happy sounds and smiles. And now the angels take you in their arms...

Houston’s departure brought me deep sorrow.
Comments are unanimous. Each time we had the pleasure to be with Houston, we were touched by his glowing and unforgettable smile and his so warm welcome everywhere he performed.
Each and every time I went on vacation in Fort Lauderdale, I always found two sunshine: the one arisen by Houston’s radius smile and the Sunshine State’s one.
My manager and myself are fortunate to still hear him through this magnificent album we bought the first time we met him. Listening to it, with our eyes closed, and we can see him. What a privilege to be able to remember.
Dear Houston, you will last in our memory. Thank you for the happiness you brought us by your talent and your ever so rich personality.
With my fondest tenderness.

I only traveled in Houston's orbit for a short seven years, but he will be missed. I always enjoyed the laughter and music that Houston, Roberto and I shared. Houston was never less than charming. He always forced me to do things that stretched my abilities whenever I had the opportunity to sing with him. I think I'd like to celebrate his memory rather than being blue. I'm sure he'd rather it that way.
With Love and admiration,
Bobby Waters

The First Time I Met Houston was In the Tropics, I had only been liviing here a short while, I walked in and he was at the Piano Singing, and while singing managed to give me and my friend a Big Hello and Wave. I thought he dosn't even know me, does he do that to everyone. I soon realized and saw with my own eyes that he did, he managed to connect with everyone in the room at any given moment. Aside from his musical talent , I thought now there is real talent , someone who connects with you Soul to Soul. You only obtain that if you are a Old Soul who has experinced Life to the Fullest. Bravo, Houston for Living your Life according to your Dreams.

I am so sad that Houston is gone; he made my last birthday so special when we were at Tympanos on Los Olas and had an opportunity to hear him play and share lots of laughs. Goodbye and thanks for this memory, Houston.
