Malcolm MacGregor Obituary

MacGregor, Malcolm, 82, of FL died June 11, of congestive heart failure surrounded by his three daughters. Born in Springfield, MA, he spent most of his career in NY and Pittsburgh, PA. After marrying the late Diane Mellon in 1958, he moved to Pittsburgh to work for the Mellon Stuart Company. Malcolm then moved to New York and joined NBC as Director of Business affairs in 1964. In 1969, Malcolm returned to Pittsburgh and joined Boyden International, an executive search firm as a Partner and later as President. While in Pittsburgh, he served on the Boards of Pressley Ridge, WQED and the Ellis School. An avid golfer, fly fisherman and gin rummy player, he spent his free time sharing his love of these hobbies with his grandchildren. His friends and family will remember him for his keen intellect, zest for life, rare graciousness, infectious optimism, generosity to others and an enormous sense of humor. Though Malcolm and Diane Stone Mellon divorced in 1990, they remained great friends until her death in 2009. To the MacGregor Family - although I only met Mr. MacGregor once when he came to my home with his daughter Lindsay, I remember him as someone that I felt I knew for a long time. He relaxed everyone. His love for his family was ever present. Just remember "don't cry because it is over, smile because it happend". You were all so lucky to be in his life. Enjoy all the memories.

To the MacGregor Family,
Malcolm was indeed a special guy and we shared some great times and memories. He was particularly proud of his family, especially the grandkids. You are all in my prayers at this difficult time. Rest assured Mal had a great life and I was glad to get a glimpse of it. He touched my life as he did with so many. Rest in peace, Mal.
