To the jacobson Family. I am sorry that I am writing you so late as I just recently found out about Michael's death. I am truly sorry for your loss and for the world's loss as Michael was such a good person. I grew up with Michael when I lived in Utica, NY and met him at Hillel Day School. We were one of 9 people when the school started in 1967 and he and I were the only ones to complete all six years until the end of 6th grade. I practically lived with the Jacobson family as Roz and Sandy treated me like their own as I slept over on so many occassions. Once I left Utica we didn't keep in touch except when Michael surprised me by showing up in 1977 in Amherst, NY. When I introduced him to my friends he was an instant hit as I knew he would. He then surprised me again in 1979 at my surprise birthday party. Unfortunately that was the last time I saw him. We spoke in 2009 and he sounded exactly the same as he always did, cracking jokes like we left off in grammar school. I love you Michael and you will be amongst the angels telling jokes like you did here.

To the Jacobson Family. I am so, sorry for your loss. I met Michael, back in 1980 at Miami-Dade Community College and we were both funeral service ed students. Michael, and me have been friends for 30 years. Michael, through out the years, has been one of my best friends and he was always around for me. When my ex husband died and y dad died he was there for me. I am going to miss our long talks we used to have. Michael, I will always miss you and remember our great times together and you will always remian in my heart, until we meet again. Michael, you were loved on Earth and you will be loved in Heaven...... I miss you!

I met Mike in the early 80's, we dated for a while, the first date we had he picked me up in a station wagon, with a coffin in the trunk, then we went to his workplace, a menorah chapel, he was so funny and we were close friends when I lived in South Florida. I was shocked to hear of his passing, I remember a happy guy, who took me to nice places always with a great sense of humor, we once went to Disney together, that was so much fun, he made it that way, that was Michael. Please except my deepest sorrow for your loss, I just learned of this today. The world is a better place because of Michael, he was kind and full of love and laughter. When I remember him I will always remember how kind he was to me.

When my father, Floyd Bachrach, died suddenly in October of 1993, Mike took care of everything. It was such a difficult time for our family and Mike eased the way as much as possible. My mother, Mary Bachrach, informed me of his death and I wanted to offer my sympathy. He was a fine person.

Jake and Glo;

There was never a closer relationship between Uncle, Aunt and Nephew then the one you shared together with "Mikey".
Although to be taken at 49 years of age is so unfair, you guys made Mike's road a little brighter and his load a little lighter. He is gone, but never will be forgotten.

We are sorry for your loss. It is nothing short of a tragedy when someone so kind is taken so young. I recall, when David and I were kids,running around his parent's house and Roz made a baked good. She told us to wait until it cooled. Michael paused for a moment after she left the room and the handed out the cookies assuring us that things are better when they're warm.
We were able to leave word with some of Michael's many New Hartford/Utica friends.

Jake,

To my best friend in the whole world. I am proud to be one of your good friends, perhaps your oldest friend. I even named my first born after you, Jake so I think of you when I call him. You are the best, always optimistic, always a kind thought. I hope your children realize just how lucky they are to have had you for a father, because I know how lucky I am to have had you as a friend.
I will miss you Jake, and I hope you find peace in a better place with Sanford at your side.

Your buddy forever,

I was saddened to hear about Michel's passing. I've known him a very long time .. as a college at Temple Beth El in WPB and as a fellow traveler through the Jewish community. He was a blessing when my Dad passed away and he helped me to navigate the funeral protocol. I saw Michael a few months ago and was amazed at how well he looked. We shared a warm hug and caught up a little on the families. I will remember his hardy laugh and his good nature and I know he will be missed by many. My condolences to his family & friends. The kindest, gentlest, most loving, "MENSCH" ever. His life's goal was to make others happy -- anyone who MET our favorite METs fan instantly felt his love and compassion. Thank you Roz and Sandy for teaching Michael how to be a mensch -- he lived his life doing for others and making them smile. Thank you Michelle and David for your unconditional and constant love and for sharing your brother as my own. Ben and Zach, his pride and admiration of his sons fueled your dad's soul. He was so very proud of his beautiful boys all your accomplishments. I know if would please Michael to know just how many of us consider him to be our BEST friend; he cherished his friendships and made us all feel like we were the most important person to him. WE LOVE YOU MICHAEL! Your memory, and our wonderful memories of you, will be HONORED for generations. Thank you for filling all our hearts with so many smiles, so much laughter, joy and happiness.

August 28, 2010

I will never forget many years ago my son was very shy and Mike was a couselor for the youth group associated w/Temple Beth El and he took my shy son under his wing and made him feel welcome and watched after him. He was so kind, even as a very young man. He even met his wife to be during that time period. His kindness will always be remembered. I remember seeing him at the funeral of a friend 2 years ago..it was very hot and he was having trouble breathing...my heart was breaking for him. He had to sit in his vehicle...he couldn't take the heat..I had to go over to the vehicle and say hi. He did not look well, even then. I was so very sad to read of his passing. My heart goes out to his family for this untimely tragedy. My own father died at 49 and it was very, very sad and difficult for us all. LOve, Felice and Jim Schonberg
