Our love and thanks to each of you for your thoughts and prayers and memories of Michael. As Alex says, "he was a gentle and caring brother, son and friend". His sense of humor was such that sometimes you had to say, "Michael, is that really the way it was?" We will miss him and love him always.

Even though I have not seen Michael in a long time I consider him to be a really good friend .He was a very big part of my childhood and I am saddened by his passing. My thoughts and prayers go out to his family and friends.

Dearest Michael,
You were the most wonderful son, brother, uncle and friend anyone could ask for. You brought us great joy, love and laughter. Although we feel an enormous amount of sorrow, we find comfort knowing you are at peace with dad and Nana Frances. Boy, what a trio! Fortunately, you left a piece of you in each one of us. It's taken me a while to write because I am really having trouble putting my feelings into words. Today is the day of the Memorial Service so I can only imagine what everyone else is about to go through.
Mike was my best friend from first grade on. Although we had only communicated sporadically over the last several years, it was always good to hear from him and I enjoyed writing back very much. We kept up through email for the most part. It was like he was always there with a short pun or a line that made you stop and reflect. And when you thought about it a while, you'd realize how hilarious the joke was. Mike was always like that with me. I'm sure going to miss that.
You all know how talented and creative Mike could be. He never ceased to amaze me at the ideas he'd come up with. That and his memory of things that happened way, way in the past. The past we all shared. He could recall the smallest details of events that happened when we were just kids. He helped me remember some of the fun times we had. I think he had a way of bringing out our childhood in all of us.
John Fitz, please give a big hug to Mike's family for me and let them know that even though I'm not there with them physically today, I'm with them (and all of you) in my heart.
