Michael Kerns Obituary

Kerns, Michael Arthur, age 54 of Cooper City, passed away Tuesday night April 6, 2004, after an eight month battle with cancer. Born February 21, 1950 in Chicago, Mike grew up in Gary, IN and moved to South Florida in 1982 upon accepting a position with the City of Hollywood as a Police Officer. On August 8, 1987 he married his faithful and adoring wife Susan and on March 21, 1989 further enriched his life with the birth of his second son, Joseph. Mike is also survived by his first born son Clifford, Phoenix, AZ; sister Barbara, IL; brother James, IN; brother-in-law Doug (Charlotte), Pembroke Pines; cousins Jack (Claudia), Deerfield Beach and Jay (Robin), Coconut Creek; aunt Betty, TN; uncle Lee, IL and many other relatives across the country. Mike will be sorely missed by his "Best Bud" Art and Cheryl, Jim and Nancy, Joe and Kathy, Jan and Rube, Ricky, Joe P. and (adopted friend) Sue. The family wishes to extend sincere gratitude and appreciation especially to these close friends; also to the HPD family and USPS (Sue's) friends and co-workers for their unending prayers and support throughout these last months. We also thank Dr. Daren Grosman and his staff for their personal touch in Mike's care. Mike always said that he just wanted to be remembered as a "nice" guy. For those of us who knew him well he is so much more. Visitation Monday 2-4 & 6-9 PM with a Prayer Service Monday 8:00 PM at Panciera Memorial Home. Funeral Mass Tuesday, April 13, 2004, 10:00 AM at Nativity Catholic Church followed by interment at Hollywood Memorial Gardens North. Arrangements by: PANCIERA MEMORIAL HOME 4200 Hollywood Blvd. Hollywood, FL 33021 954-989-9900 www.panciera.com.

Mike was an always friendly face around the job and he will be missed.

He will, of course-be remembered as a "nice guy" and one of the "good guys" as well.

Our thoughts are with his family.

We miss you so much Mike. The football games, tailgating parties and superbowl parties will never be the same without you. Mike was a giving and great man and a wonderful friend. There is one blessing we have now and that is we all now have a wonderful guardian angel looking out for us and that is our Mike. We will never forget you. Fly with the Angels.

Am very sorry to hear about Mike's passing. He was one of the original Aetna boy's, and a childhood friend that will surely be missed by many. I will always remember the days we played baseball, ( Saturday pick up games- and our All Star team that Mike was the catcher for when we beat Miller) and the many times we went to Pointview with our Dad's. Jim, and Barb, am very sorry for the loss of your brother. He will forever be one of my best childhood friends.
