Peter Hoffmann Obituary

Peter George Hoffmann passed away on September 8, 2022 at the age of 83, after battling Alzheimer's disease for several years. He was born in Long Island, New York to George and Louise Hoffmann and grew up in Atlanta, Georgia, where he attended high school and some college. He then enlisted in the Marine Corps Reserves. He excelled in the tech school at Parris Island and was attached to a Marine Fighter Aviation Squadron. Later serving in Vietnam, he came to know a group of Montagnards, several of whom became his lifelong friends.

After Vietnam, he traveled extensively and then settled in Pompano Beach, Florida, living on a houseboat at the Sands Harbor, and operating a yacht brokerage in Lauderdale-by-the-Sea. He met and married a law student, Nancy Little, in 1974. They were blessed with two daughters, Karen and Sarah, whom he loved deeply.

While living in Pompano Beach, he operated Hoffmann Marine, designing, building, and selling various types of vessels -- most notably a submarine, which he built in the family garage.

In addition to his wife and daughters, Pete is survived by his sister and brother-in-law, Harriet and Danny Morgan and their family, Miki and Blake Morgan, in Atlanta; his brother Roger and sister-in-law Nan in Point Reyes, California; and numerous cousins in his extended family. He is remembered not only as a man of many interests and talents, but also as a kind, good-hearted and strong man with a wicked sense of humor. He will be profoundly missed.

Per Pete's wishes, no services will be held. His ashes will be scattered in the Gulf Stream.

Nancy, so sorry for your loss. It has also been one of a number of people I used to know and love from back in the day. My (ex) husband was Jim Eden, who partnered up with Pete at Intracoastal Yacht Sales, and also legally married you and Pete. I never got to know you very well in those days, but I lost touch totally with almost everyone I knew in Ft. Laud. when I moved to Annapolis, and then back to California (WHAT A MISTAKE !!)
So every once in a while I think back to all the people I knew and loved and they are always dead now. But I always like to think there's always someone that's still around. (I'm 80 until late September this year so I don't know why I'm still shocked that I can never get back in touch with people I knew. I see that you have two daughters, so I hope they are there for you.
Love to you and Pete, and you children,
Veronica Eden
