Peter Van Deusen Obituary

Van Deusen Van Deusen, Peter L. After a courageous struggle with cancer, Peter Van Deusen (Born Aug.14, 1935 - Died Dec. 9, 2010) passed away peacefully at home. Peter was born in Scranton, PA, attended Valley Forge Military Academy and the University of Scranton. People who met Peter immediately saw his polite manners and sincere warmth. Peter and Kay (wife) had a special bond. They enjoyed flyfishing at their home in Wyoming and wonderful visits from the children Peter Jr. (Col. USAF) and ED (Jeanine) and their grandchildren William, Kathleen, Tommy, Matthew and Danielle. He was a practicing Insurance Agent until a month before his death. He made many clients into friends and also felt it an honor to work with so many special people. All anticipated his homemade fudge that he sent out every Christmas. Peter was a 31 yr. member of the Million Dollar Round Table (MDRT) and on the MDRT honor roll. Served on the Board of Directors of the Broward Asso. of Insurance & Financial Advisors, the Ann Storck Center and Youth Automotive Training Center (YATC) He was raised by a family that knew the importance of giving back to people less fortunate. His grandfather started Save the Children. The Van Deusen family wishes to extend its deepest appreciation to Hospice By the Sea and the Biennes Cancer Center at Holy Cross Hospital for the exceptionally tender care they gave Peter. A special memorial service will take place on Thursday, Dec. 16, 2010 at 1pm at Kraeer-Becker Funeral Home, 217 E. Hillsboro Blvd., Deerfield Bch, Fl. 954-427-5544. Peter was a dear friend and a gentleman beyond compare. I will miss our calls and special friendship that began over thirty years ago. He was like a brother who always knew the right thing to say..One of the best things we ever did for one another was my introducing him to the Love of his life Kay and they introducing me to my husband Ken. I will smile every day thinking about our great times together.

Peter was one of the finest people I have ever known and very special to me in many ways. After the loss of my wife Peter was there with a warm smile and hug. I will miss him. My love to all his family.
