Polly Daugherty Obituary

Polly Daugherty (84) went to be with her Lord on 3/13/18 in Lauderhill, Fla. Born Clara Alvena Minnick in Chattanooga, Tenn on 6/27/33 to Martin and Hazel Minnick. Graduating from Chattanooga City High School (GO DYNAMOS!) in 1951 where her outstanding beauty and voice made her a popular figure She achieved the rank of Adjutant-Major in the women's drill squad, and played first base on the championship "City" softball team. On her birthday in 1953 Polly married Jim Daugherty. She gave birth to Tim followed by Mike and Matt. Polly attended Plantation United Methodist Church, where she sang for 40 years as a lead soprano. But words and music were not enough. Polly's selfless commitment to her family did not stop at her husband and sons, She was the foundation her family gathered around, and her dream became to stand behind her family to buoy them up and to accomplish their dreams. Beloved wife, mother, grandmother and great-grandmother, friend, and servant of God. She is survived by Jim, her husband of 65 years; her siblings Sherry and Daniel, her children and their families. Come celebrate Polly's life at 1 pm, on Saturday, April 21, 2018, at Plantation United Methodist Church, 1001 NW 70th Ave, Plantation, FL 33313.
