Rhoda Morris Obituary

Morris, Rhoda, beloved wife of David Morris for 55 years, passed away tragically in a fire on Sunday, June 12, 2005, at the tender age of 75. The Morris' lived in the International Village, in Lauderhill, Florida. Rhoda was survived by her loving husband David, her two children Kalman & Karen, her grand children Tamara, Sonja & Marika, her great-grandchild Fiona (age 2), a not-yet-named grandchild who will likely be born in July, and her sister Lillian Goldberg. She was the glue that held us all together and her death has left a hole in our lives that likely nothing can ever fill. Rhoda was full of life and an eternal optimist. As a natural-born teacher and a life-long student, she taught grade school (fourth grade) for over 30 years before her retirement in 1996. Kind and generous to a fault, she was well loved by neighbors and community in return. An amazing artist, gifted writer and organizer, she will be greatly missed by her family and worldwide circle of friends. Her funeral will be held in Tamarac, Florida on June 16, 2005 at 7:00 PM at the Riverside Gordon Memorial Chapel, 6701 West Commercial Blvd.(954) 721-1877. All who knew and loved her are welcome to attend. Her burial will be held in Wilmington, Delaware on June 19, 2005 at 1:00 PM, at the Lombardi Cemetery (Jewish Community Cemetery) in the Montefiore section, with a graveside ceremony and will be followed by a "luncheon" in her memory at DoubleTree, nearby. Momma, our hearts are broken. We shall NEVER FORGET YOU, so rest in the arms of Your Maker's peace until we join your uplifting spirit.

Cousins Rhoda & Dave:

We will all have fond memories of you both.

Now who is going to remember to send the birthday cards to all of the relatives?

Big Sister... you are a hard act to follow... I'll do my best to live up to all that you stood for, believed in and did. Now your beloved "Duvey" has joined you... Karen, Kal, Tamara, Sonja, Marika, Fiona, David A, and Laney: we'll all muddle through without them, somehow.

Although it has been years since I've seen Rhoda, I still vividly remember her loving gentleness, both here, in Florida, and as a teacher in Reading.

Our hearts are broken...Rhoda & Dave were instrumental in "marrying us off". Charles spent his last "free" night on their couch in Balto. 38 years ago.

We'll miss you.

Aunt Rhoda: Kind and Gentle - She could give the warmest hugs and encouragement and was very patient and understanding with all she encountered. The remarkable love she shared with Uncle Dave is a testament to the goodness of her heart. She will be surely missed by those whose lives she touched.

Rhoda and family,

I remember good times in Wilno with David making funny comments about the cucumber I was cutting up for the salad. I remember Rhoda always being busy with something and she was always kind and loving to me when I was around. I appreciate and will always remember being a part of these happy times and will not let great memories be over shadowed by this sad and tragic event. My love goes out to Karen and the family during these difficult times. I know you are strong together and this is a tribute to the fine example of strength that Rhoda provided to her family. Thinking of you, love Tracy and David.
