Rick Recchi Obituary

Rick (Enrico) Recchi died unexpectedly on Friday, August 19, 2022 while doing what he loved to do most, playing his guitar. Rick was born on November 21, 1962 in Ft. Lauderdale, FL to Esther Carney Recchi and Rick Recchi. He was what we call a complete surprise baby and son; which the whole family had always wanted. His parents and two sisters, Kathleen and Debra, couldn't have been more excited to welcome him into their large Italian family. At an early age Rick loved music and was eager to follow in his father's footsteps as a musician. He began learning and playing guitar at the age of 12 and this became his passion. Rick was one of the best guitarists you ever heard play especially when he was on stage with his band, Southland. Rick attended public school in Broward County and graduated from Piper High School. He attended the Art Institute where he majored in music theory composition. He also received a degree in videography. For twenty plus years Rick was the owner of Trial by Video and during that time was involved with 1000's of legal cases throughout Broward County. He became well known for his quiet, dependable and efficient ways of doing business. Rick is survived by his sisters Kathleen Sklarew (Jay Sklarew), Debra Daniels, nephew Jason Sklarew and nieces Rachel Sargent (Mark Sargent), Catherine Anania (Vern Anania), Ashley Daniels and great-niece Shae Trawick. Friends will be received at the T.M. Ralph Plantation Funeral Home 7001 NW 4 Street on Tuesday from 3:00-6:00PM. His life will be celebrated at 5:00PM with the family leading remembrances. www.tmralph.com 954 587-6888

During a time in my life when things were very difficult, living in a new state, tough teen years and losing my brother in middle school, meeting Rick Recchi in high school was a bright light of hope. He was 3 years older but treated me with such kindness and warmth. He was truly the nicest guy you could ever meet. We spoke about six months ago and during Covid and hoped to meet up in NC. He said he was planning a visit to see his sister. While I can only wish he was still here and I could see him again I am grateful for our long phone calls and hearing him tell me so many things about HS and life in general I simply forgot so much was. He talked about Joey Urso and Pat Griffin. His kind heart and soul will live on in our memories and should inspire each of us to be as kind as he was. RIP sweet man you will always be remember and loved. My sincerest condolences to the family and Denise.
