Robert Castor Obituary

Castor, Robert Lawrence (Rob), died on August 17th as the result of an auto accident in Luttrell, TN. Born in Hialeah, FL on July 19, 1966, Rob was raised in Boca Raton where he and his brother Todd practically grew up at local baseball and football fields. Rob went on to play both sports at Pope John Paul High School, where he excelled as a pitcher and quarterback, respectively. After injuries curtailed his athletic career, Rob attended University of Central Florida, and later served in the U.S. Army, where he was proud to have built roads, bridges and schools in Central America. It was here that he and former wife Kim welcomed sons, Joshua Robert Castor, 14, and Trey Lawrence Castor, 13, to join older sister Alyssa Dawn Castor, 19. Although unassuming about himself, Rob took great pride and joy in his children, who each benefitted from his legacy of humor, athletic grace, and intelligence. Along with his love of sports, Rob enjoyed working outdoors as a land surveyor. Rob's tall, imposing presence was in contrast to his excessive modesty, and he would probably be surprised to realize how large a void he will leave in the hearts of the friends and family who loved him: devoted parents Herbert and Becky Castor of Boca Raton; beloved brother Todd Edward Castor; grandfather Robert Thorn of Largo; adored daughter and sons, Alyssa, Josh, and Trey of Delray Beach, as well as aunts and uncles including Dick and Ollie Strawderman, Barbara Cremin, and cousins Matt Cremin; Liz, Jason and Owen Holland; Kay Strawderman, June Frank and Larry Strawderman. Visitation will be Saturday, August 23rd from 12 - 4 PM and services at 4 PM at Babione Funeral Home, 1100 North Federal Highway, Boca Raton.

Be Still

Be still like the grass on a melancholy summer day
Be still like desert shrub.

Be calm and you will hear your loved one speak, in the stillness, in the calm, their love resounds.

If you are still this promise I make, you will hear the voice of your loved one helping you along your way.

Tike, Becky, Todd, you are in my thoughts.

Dear Mr and Mrs Castor, Todd, his wife and children,
My prayers are with you during this very difficult time. I am so sorry for your loss. There are no words to express how saddened I was to hear of his tragic accident.
I spoke with him during the holidays and was looking forward to getting together to catch up when I came down to Fl.
I did have the pleasure of knowing this funny, handsome, great guy frm our years at Pope. I can only imagine the wonderful man he became since then and I know his presence will be missed by all the hearts he has touched.
God Bless your family
Love to you all

Of course you know how I feel. Words hardly ever fail me, but somehow they seem sadly inadequate now. This is an unthinkable loss for a parent, a brother, and for a child, and yet the sorrow is yours to bear, my dearest sister Becky and brother-in-law Herb, my kind and sensitive nephew Todd, and Rob's wonderful children Alyssa, Josh, and Trey. We all loved, and continue to love him. Our shared grief will only be matched by our shared love, and that is what we will have to cling to in the days, weeks, months, and years ahead.
We'll be there for each other, and that is how we will honor Rob. All my love,
Barb

To the Castor Family,
I am honored to be a part of such a wonderful, loving family. Words can not express how sorry I am for the tragic loss of Rob, a very special son, father and to me, cousin. I have many fond memories running through my mind of times spent with Rob and the family. A huge hole will be left without Rob's booming laugh and presence. I am constantly thinking about all of you and hope that you will find some comfort in the wonderful memories and love Rob gave us.
Love,
Elizabeth, Jason, and Owen Holland

Although I haven't known Rob for long, I know enough to say that I will miss him and share the loss of his passing from now on. He could brighten even the darkest days with his words of praise and encouragement. I wish I could return blessings of his reassurances to his children, his brother, his parents, and to the hundreds of people that will forever miss the warmth of his love. You all are in my thoughts and prayers every minute.

To the entire Castor family,
Our hearts are heavy and our minds are prayer-filled for you all at this difficult time. We will cherish our memories of Rob forever. I want to thank you Mr. and Mrs. Castor for always making feel welcome in your home and for giving me a great foundation and love for sports. Rob and I had great times together on and off the field. It is amazing how my boys and Robs boys met eachother and played the same sport we did, and to see you there cheering them on the way you did for us was awesome. Mr. C I look forward to seeing your old scorebooks.
Josh, Trey and Alyssa your Dad was a great man, we know how hard this must be for you . Our entire family sends our deepest condolences to you all. We pray in time your broken hearts will be filled with the love your Dad sends you from his front row seat in Heaven.

Peace and Love to you all,
Chad, Kari, Brandon and Austin Burkett
