Shirley Rothenstein

Rothenstein, Shirley Block, most recently of Boca Raton, Florida, passed away peacefully on September 18, 2016. She was 89 years old. A strong, loving, always fabulous and incredibly organized person, Mrs. Rothenstein was the daughter of Elizabeth and Julius Block of Derby, Connecticut and the sister of Ruth, Harry and Herman Block. Mrs. Rothenstein earned a Bachelor's degree in Social Work from The Ohio State University, where she met her husband-to-be Edward M. Rothenstein. In their 61 years together - first in Lawrence, New York and then Boca Raton and Delray Beach, Florida - they enjoyed a life that revolved around family and friends. As a travel agent, Mrs. Rothenstein took great pleasure in helping her clients plan wonderful trips. As a volunteer, she first devoted her energies in New York to raising money for the National Council of Jewish Women; and then in Florida, to building awareness of cancer research and support for cancer patients and their families. Mrs. Rothenstein is survived by her daughters Barbara Rothenstein and Julie Morgenstern; sons-in-law Daniel Budasoff and Saul Morgenstern; grandchildren Alana Budasoff Lindholm, Peter Morgenstern, Larry Budasoff and Emily Morgenstern; great-grandchildren Asher and Adelaide Lindholm and Isla Budasoff; and her many close friends, all of whom loved, and will miss her, dearly.
