Walter Rekuc Obituary

Rekuc, Walter S., 81 of Tamarac, FL passed away on December 6, 2005 after loosing his battle with pancreatic cancer. He leaves behind his beloved wife of 53 years, Barbara. He was the beloved father of four children: Walter Rekuc Jr. of Alpharetta; GA, Dr. Gregory Rekuc, of Raleigh, NC; Clifford Rekuc of Atlanta, GA and Barbara Booth of Huntsville, AL. He was a loving grandfather of six grandchildren: Caroline Rekuc, Brian Rekuc, Abigail Rekuc, Alyssa Booth, Nathan Booth and Lindsey Booth who will miss their grandpa. Walter was a decorated Army medic in World War II earning three Purple Hearts and a bronze star. He attended Rutgers University under the GI Bill and received a Bachelors degree in Accounting. He worked as a controller for Haskin & Sales, Phillips Corporation, American Standard, Vulcan Materials and other companies. As a resident of Tamarac for the past 34 years he was an active member of the American Legion, Disabled American Veterans, Polish American Club, Broward County Republican Club and a founding member of St. Malachy Church. His hobbies included stamp collecting and he enjoyed watching college sports. Services will be held at St. Malachy Church, 6200 N. University Drive in Tamarac, on Saturday, December 10th at 9am. In lieu of flowers, the family wishes that donations be made to University of Miami Sylvester Comprehensive Cancer Center, PO Box 016960 (M867), Miami, FL 33101.
