William Roe Obituary

Roe, William (Bill aka "the Spin Doktor"), 65 of Pompano Beach, FL died Wednesday, December 19, 2012 at Hospice By The Sea at John Knox Village with his loving wife and family by his side. Bill was an avid diver for 40+ years but had to give it up in his later years battling cancer. He studiously avoided "awful-izing" (one of his words) and always encouraged everyone else to do the same. He was a published poet & worked as an ad salesman and reporter for Florida Scuba News, for some 25+ years and he knew all the shakers and movers in the dive business, two things he was most proud of. He met and married Janalynn "Jan" Roe in his later years, who was there by his side during his battle with cancer and through to the end of his fight. He is survived by his wife Jan, his two daughters Ginger Denise of Hollywood, and Calleen "Pookie" Shirley of Pompano. He has 4 step children, many grand and great-grandchildren, all of whom adored, loved and idolized him. Bill's last wishes were to have his ashes scattered in his "Beloved Ocean". A ceremony and date to be determined at a later time.

To Jan and the family,

My brother (Tony) and Bill grew up together and he was a huge part of my family for many many years. One of our fondest memories of Bill will always be his "Bill Roe Jokes" (which is what we used to call them)... his little sayings or comments that would take a second to sink in. Then we'd laugh and say it was a Bill Roe Joke. I have so many memories of him I could go on and on. I am so glad that my niece Laura and I were able to attend his wedding to Jan and see his daughters again... he was so happy. We will miss him but he will live on in our hearts and thoughts and bring a smile to our faces when one of us comes up with a Bill Roe Joke. Rest in piece my dear friend. You will be missed.
