mr. Zeller was one of my favorite teacher he believed in me and always push me to achieve my goals in class when I felt I was in good enough because I had a learning disability. He always showed me that I had to pass his class and continue to achieve my goals in life, when I found out he passed away it broke my heart. He was such a great human being. I was class of 2001 I will never forget him it´s 2024 now and he just crossed my mind because my daughter is about to graduate this year and I remember the day I graduated at the end of me grabbing my diploma to tell me congratulations you did it I believed you, and you believed in you I´m proud of you I never forget those words. Rest in peace Mr. Zeller you are very missed.

Hard to believe its been 14 years already. Christmas Eve has never felt the same since you passed. You was hands down one of the best people in my life and you truly helped mold me into the person i grew up to be. You showed me that you can be both professional and rock n roll. We shared the same birthday and funny enough, i love onions on my food, just how you taunted everyone with your sandwiches filled with onions. As an adult i learned to appreciate your humor and your life lessons. Its a shame future students wont experience your big heart, but rest assured, your legacy will forever carry on. Your spirit is forever immortalized with every pint i raise along with a shared memory of how Mr. Z was right in alot of predicted events. Our first day in class you shouted "I will treat you all like dogs!..... And i love my dogs". You definitely kept your word. You loved us, just how we loved you back. We will never forget you.

Mr. Zeller. Here I am 7 years later, in a coffee shop and I thought about him. It's very nostalgic to think about how he encouraged me in Miami Springs as my History teacher. He invested in me even I didn't see the mass of potential in myself at the moment. Times like this one, in this coffee shop, with a smile on my face, having the pleasure to remember such a wonderful and beautiful spirit. He is a type of person that you can't simply forget about. I really miss him. I know the holiday season still has a bittersweet sentiment to his loved ones as well with me. Mr. Zeller would be proud to know that all those times that he pushed me to strive to my greatest potential and to believe in myself... I do now. With the help of Mr. Zeller and other golden gems, I am in a place that I am proud to be. Thank you!

I am very late in finding this out. You were certainly my favorite teacher at MSSH. You inspired me so much. I can say you were a significant reason as to why I pursued and received a Phd in politics. You had such a kind heart and the world is a better place because of you!!

December 17, 2010

In your honor during this holiday season...you were a great man...now you live on as a great soul...

You always had an ear to listen...feel like you still do.

I am completely shocked to hear of Mr. Zeller's passing. I never was one of his students in the classroom, but I was lucky enough to be his student on the running trail, as a member of the MSSH Cross Country Team. Coach Zeller's wisdom and guidance transcended the walls of the classroom onto the streets of Miami Springs and along the golf course, where we logged countless miles as a team.

Coach Zeller ran with the team..or should I say...AHEAD of the team, during our practices. It was quite impossible for anyone's ego to get out of hand while the coach was easily outrunning us, playfully practicing his boxing maneuvers on the leaves of low-hanging trees. Only Coach Zeller could motivate a group of teenage guys to run up to 10 miles in 90F weather, in preparation for a 3-mile race!

When I returned to MSSH as a substitute teacher, I went from being Mr. Zeller's student to being his colleague. I realized that Mr. Zeller had the same gift in the classroom as he did as a coach: the earnestness to gain his students' trust as a professional, and also as a true friend.

I have enjoyed reading everyone's posts here and am heartened to see that so many others feel the same way. We could always count on Mr. Zeller's advice whether it be for classwork, athletics, or even a personal matter--he was a true confidant.

My deepest condolences to Mr. Zeller's family, especially his daughters who were my schoolmates at MSSH.

I remember one day when myself and Brando Pennington class of 1991 saw Mr Zeller drive in his classy ferrari and said hello. Mr Zeller was very talented in American Government. I was only at Miami Springs for a year and a half but ran into him in and out on a daily basis and heard of his reputation from all of my classmates.

To the Zellers and friends from Springs I am very saddened and sorry for your loss.

My deepest condolences to all of Mr. Zeller's loved ones.

I am saddened to hear of the passing of Mr. Zeller. Hard to believe he isn't with us any more. I took his Government/Economics class and I was part of the cross country team for three years (88, 89, and 90). He coached me through cross country to be a real runner.
I'll always remember the great competitions that we have against many high schools around the county. I always appreciated his advices and specially his dedication to push us to continue to the finish line and be the best. I have many great memories during those years that I will never forget, especially winning many competitions for our school. There is one race that I will always remember, in this race we won against many local high schools and Mr. Zeller was so proud of us for being on the top ten runners in the county and bringing a huge trophy for our school. We took a great picture that day and you can see in his face that he was so proud of this achievement. Thank you so much for the knowledge you shared with us and for the great coaching that you give us. I am so glad that I was part of his team and I will always remember him for the great coach and teacher that he was. Thank you Coach. God bless you and your family.
Rest is peace

Mr.Zeller was the excellent teacher a student, can ever ask for. he made us laugh, and enjoy history class yet, striving to better each student to their potentiallity. Im in shock, i wish i couldve seen him again and see him smiling back at our senior year 2001 homeroom class, talking and planning Grad Nite, and taking quizzes and tests before we went to pep rallys. May God be with him and his family. My condolesences goes out to all of you.

To me he was more than just a teacher, he belived in me and gave me the confidence a student like me needed to make it thru.

He truly means so much, high school years, and adolescence is hard in itself. one is still trying to find reason for life, and with Mr.ZELLER life had a meaning, he was the reason why some of us woke up every morning to go to homeroom and not skip class. and this is something that cannot be re-lived.

God bless.

From the minute I knew Mr. Zeller I loved him. He was the head of the Legal Eagles and throughout the years at MSSH I viewed him not only as a great teacher but also as a friend and mentor. Now, as a teacher I worked at the school for about two years and a few teachers would come and have lunch in our classroom; it was an honor to be a peer of his. The last converation I had with him was about cars and houses in Miami Springs. He will forever be in my thoughts and memories.

As I walked through the hallways and thru my young life I feared I would forget my memories and with them my friends and loved ones but now years later as life has me wrapped in its web of every day need to be better I get a message and it says a Teacher and a great man passed away well I haven't forgotten and I wanted to stop and show my love for his memories and respect.

wow...
Hard to believe he isn't with us any more.
His ways were unique as only a handful of teachers/professors can be. He coached me through cross country, government and economics, yet it was the fact that he was always there as a friend that made him so special. It's people like Zeller that make the stubborn ones work hard as to not disappoint them. I've never forgotten Zeller for his guidance and advice. I am sure that everyone he touched will pass on a bit of his flame to others...

I am in complete shock right now!! I had no idea that Mr. Zeller passed away so recently. I had been communicating with him during the past year about my recent achivements in New York. As always he was so proud of my accomplishments and even when I felt down he always knews what to say. It was his encouragement and support that helped me in the legal field. I remember him coaching me in High School for mock trials. I also remember always showing up late to his classes because I took a longer lunch hour. I always managed to stay out of trouble by bringing him a sub or a slice of pizza. He had a special way with kids especially teenagers when most adults had no clue. You will be missed so much Mr. Z, but I'm grateful that I reached out to you last year. Love you always, Esther.

Bill was my neighbor when I was a small child in Hialeah. I remember when he moved away, and when I was able to be in one of his classes at MSSH. It was through his guidance that I became a paralegal. I am in shock to learn today that he passed away. He was a great influence in my life. My sincerest condolences to his daughters, his brother and the rest of the family.

The best part of my High School experience was in Mr. Zeller's class. He was constantly challenging our minds and he was molding us for the adults that we would become. He was an amazing educator and mentor.

January 31, 2007

Not a day goes by that I do not think of him. He was so dear to my heart and always there, even when I could not be. How did he always know when I needed help and when I needed someone to talk? He never turned a deaf ear to me and my life's issues. I can still feel him here with me as he has always been my entire life...Miss you Z

Mr. Zeller was a well of passion for all of us who had the honor of having him as a teacher. His passion for teaching, his passion for critical discussion and his unequivocal desire that all his students should perform at their full potential were a source of challenge and inspiration to me and my classmates. In the classroom he encouraged us to debate the reality around us and to judge the actions of men as true citizens of the world. He was our Socrates and we shall value his life as we respectfuly mourn his earthly passing. Our regards to his family and Mr Z, thank you.

I often think about Mr. Zeller... I recently had a conversation with my Son about my High School years. Mr. Zeller's name came up.. I told him the story on how Mr. Zeller would not let me graduate with my Class, he felt I needed to learn more about Economics.... He held me back and I had to go to summer school. I passed Economics and I Gratuated in the Summer of 88.... But I will never forget how hard he made me work it. He knew that I needed that, he was not just going to pass me just to pass me, he wanted me to really understand the whole concept.... This world will miss you Mr. Zeller, but I bet you will have a whole new group of students up above.... May you rest in peace always....... Thanks for pushing me towards KNOWLEDGE....

My thoughts and prayers will be with your family Mr. Zeller, RIP always....

Oh....where to start? Mr. Zeller was the best thing that happened to Hollywood Hills Highschool. I miss him dearly. When there was something bothering me, he would always be there to talk to. I will be longing for when he yells at me to stop talking, or asks me to do him a favor. But he is in a better place now. I am happy that he passed by a natural cause. Although he looked as though he was healthy, he must have been ignoring the fact that his health was declining. But all the best goes out to him. I will pray for him every day. His student, Faniesha

To someone very special in all of his students' hearts. The genuine compassion of Mr. Zeller was like that of no ordinary teacher in High School. He strived in preparing young adults for the real world and in doing so he touched each and every one of their hearts. Being supportive, humorous, intellectual and most importantly a real, genuine human being. My most sincere condolences to his family, friends and students. Like the unforgettable history he taught in his class, may we never forget the special ways he touched our lives.

Wow.. i was out of school before the christmas break. MR. Zellar was one of my favorite teachers and he used to always pick on me to make sure i would pick on him right back. He would always talk about football with me and help me build my future. Everything with the SAT and such. He has impacted my life in some ways thats no other teachers have been able to do. He made me want to come to school and to be there n have fun.. while learning at the same time. though some of his test were hard... he would always find ways around it to bring out grades back up. He would always push us to do better and make a future of everyone.

This sucks that i was depressd and not able to say goodbye.

i loved Mr. Zeller. we both have the same exact birtday and all. i remember when we had our timeline project that i worked on with Francisco Selgas, one of my best friends. we did a guitar cutout and put a huge collage of everything rock. Mr. Z loved it and i remember how he would call me the rocker and Rockstar cuz i always wore shades. damn... RIP Mr Z. u will always be one of the greatest teachers in my life. you taught me so much. he was always there for me when i would get in trouble with my other teachers and he always defended me. he was one of the few people in this world to understand me and accept me for me. we always had our jokes about things in life. i remember one day he came in with a newspaper and slammed it on the desk and said that something in that issue will change history as we know it. every aspect of him showed the making of a great teacher. even when he wasnt in the classroom, he always made me learn something new. my deepest condolescence to his family and fellow students who adored him. he was my teacher.

Coach Z was an awesome athlete who helped us all strive to the best of our abilities, in both athletics and academics. He was a natural runner and a great coach that pushed me to the finish line and was waiting there to help keep standing when the race was over. He used to tell me when i got a really bad "stitch", Walton, "you gotta run it out, run it out", and I always did. thanks coach. In his Legal ed. class , i remember him telling me to try and see both sides of the legal issue. I was so against abortion and he made me speak in defense of Roe vs Wade because i was so adamant that i was right. That was a good life lesson to me. I learned then that There is always another side and you always have a choice. You will be remembered, fondly.

Whoa!, I still cannot believe it. Such a great teacher and person. The only one teacher who will let you drink mocca, eat Cuban toast from the Hawk Express while reading the newspaper and listening to beautiful classical music, especially those Lord of the Rings soundtracks that we enjoyed so much. Definitely one in a million teacher. My condolences to family, friends, students, and all those who deeply feel this lost. Perhaps we should believe that somewhere else he is happily watching after those he cared and loved. R.I.P. Mr. Zeller! You have left footprints in our lives.

Mr.Zeller was a great teacher. He was able to get everybody to somehow enjoy his class and get them to do their work. He always had time to give advice to students and lead them in the right direction. He is the only teacher i have had that was able to relate with the students and see things from our prosepective also. He was a great teacher and he will not be forgotten and MSSH. May he rest in peace.

my thoughts are with you -- I still can't quite process this -- knowing him since I was knee-high to a grasshopper...I remember him shaking his head because he just didn't know what to do with us sometimes..or the grin with the raised eyebrow...He will be missed.

Well I don't know what to say. I was in shocked after i found out.If it wasn't for you Mr.Zeller i would never got my act together. If it wasn't for you pushing me to do my best in your class i would have never changed.I know that you had to send an example in class for the other student's so you have me their to be the example. and I thank you Mr.Zeller for doing that. Now I have something to say this year in my Senior Year Book under most missed memory, and it would be you Mr.Zeller.

Also i know that rest of your 5th period American History Honors class would say the same thing. that class was one of the best class i had and one of the best teacher to be teaching it.

From Miami Springs Senior High, this school will never forget about you.

Mr. Zeller came into my life my senior year, a year that was heading nowhere but to total disaster. I was going through a depression state due to personal matters at home, my grades were terrible, i was basically in a dark lonely hole, and mr zeller came along and inspired me to turn my life around. He really made that difference, im the person i am today thanks to the inspiration he gave me in my final year at springs. I can picture him whereever he is right now teaching.... thats what made him happy, and he did so like no other teacher could. To him teaching was a passion not a job, it was something he strived on, and he touched many lives in his long career as a teacher. God bless his soul, he deserves an eternity of happiness and rest, i only hope that whereever he is he looks at me and all his students and is proud to know that he made a difference in every single one of our lives. God bless.....

Eventhough it was a year ago, I'll never forget how Mr. Zeller was the one who took on the responsibility of teaching our AP Economics class when no one else would. He cared for us and guided us no questions asked. May he rest in peace knowing that many people here on earth are thinking of him with a smile on their faces.

True friendship isn't seen with the eyes, it is felt with the heart
When there is trust, understanding, loyalty and sharing.

True friendship is a rare feeling, but when it is found It profound impact on our well-being, strenth and character.

True friendship does not need elaborate gifts
Or spectacular events in order to be valuable or valued.

To ensure long-lasting quality and satisfaction
True frienship only needs a few key ingridients:

Undying loyalty, unmatched understanding, unsurpassed trust
Deep and soulful secrets, and enless sharing.

These ingridients, mixed with personality and a sence of humor,

It is a shame that such a good man passed on without reaching more young adults. He truly changed my view of life because he talked to us in a way that made students feel like adults, and not just like a teen. He was a major influence on me becasue he was the main reason why I did not drop out of high school, and I wish that i could have told him in person. Thank You Mr.Zeller!

For the past semester, I've had the pleasure of seeing Mr. Zeller for both AP Psychology and AP Government everyday. I can say with confidence that men with such a passion for knowledge and teaching are an extremely rare breed. Mr. Zeller combined his sense of humor, intellect, and experience into a truly unique method of teaching. On a personal level, I knew Mr. Zeller as a close friend, one who chose to refer to me as "Mr. Cowperson" rather than by my first name, and one who taught me not only about the world of academia, but also how to be a man of character. I will never forget all I have learned from Mr. Zeller, and I can honestly say, the rest of senior year will not be the same without him. Rest in peace Mr. Zeller.
