Dewey Baxter Obituary
Funeral services will be held at 2 p.m. on Wednesday, August 26, 2015 at Broadway Baptist Church with Rev. Chris Stephens officiating. Burial will follow at Garden of Memories. Arrangements are under the direction of Cate-Spencer & Trent Funeral Home.
Family will receive friends at the funeral home on Tuesday, August 25, 2015 from 6-7:30 p.m.
Dewey was born on August 29, 1934 in Zafra, Okla. to Willie and Irene (Stinnett) Baxter. He married Rosell Hammonds on Dec. 31, 1952 in Polk County, Ark. He was a longtime member of Broadway Baptist Church. He worked as a welder and machinist for Sweetwater Machine for many years before retiring. He had been a resident of Sweetwater for over 50 years. Dewey was an avid fisherman, hunter and gardener.
He is survived by his wife Rosell Baxter of Sweetwater; two daughters, Deborah Gilbreath and husband Darrel of Brownwood and Rhonda Ivey and husband Roger of Roscoe; two brothers, Cletus Baxter of Smithville, Okla. and Luther Baxter of Kansas City, Kan.; grandchildren, Amanda Cash and Jeremy King, Chrisi Warner and husband Kris, Heather Garrison and husband Grady, Hillary Miles and husband Brit and Clint Ivey; six great-grandchildren, and numerous nieces, nephews and cousins.
He was preceded in death by his parents and two brothers.
