Ernestine Edmiston Obituary

Ernestine Fannelle Edmiston, 82, of Roscoe, TX, passed away on October 20th, 2021. Ernestine was born on January 16th, 1939, to Cleo Younse Parrott and George Ernest Parrott in Roscoe, TX. After graduating from Roscoe High School in 1957, she went on to earn a bachelor of Business Administration at Hardin Simmons, where she met her husband, Bobby Doyle Edmiston. They were wed in 1960, going on to have two children, Georgia and Katie. She dedicated her life to being a wonderful and loving mother and wife. She spent her time supporting her husband as a basketball player, coach, and farmer, as well as supporting her children. She enjoyed leading Brownie and Girl Scout troops, serving on school committees, and attending numerous athletic events for her girls. She was a passionate and faithful Plowboys fan, attending events even after the girls had graduated from high school. Ernestine found the same joy in supporting her five grandchildren: Lexi Dippel (21), Jessica Dippel (17), Dayton Heaps (15), Danica Heaps (14), and Dawson Heaps (11). One of her greatest joys was having all of the children and grandchildren living in Roscoe where she and Doyle could see them all on a regular basis. Ernestine taught at RHS for almost 20 years, as a substitute and as a business, typing, and computer teacher. She served as Band Booster President in 1984, organizing fundraising for the entire band to attend the International Youth and Music Festival in Vienna, Austria. As well, Ernestine enjoyed genealogy and organizing the annual Younse reunion with her cousin Letha McGrew. Ernestine was preceded in death by her father George Ernest Parrott, and her mother, Cleo Younse Parrott. She is survived by husband Bobby Doyle Edmiston, daughter Georgia Edmiston Dippel and husband Doug, daughter Katie Edmiston Ralph, and husband David, and their children, all of Roscoe. She is survived by her brother Henry Don Parrott and wife Peggy Parrott, also of Roscoe. Funeral services will be held at 2:00 p.m. Saturday, October 23, 2021 at First Baptist Church in Roscoe with Rev. Bruce Parsons officiating. Interment will follow at Roscoe Cemetery under the direction of McCoy Funeral Home. A visitation will be held Friday from 5 until 7 p.m. at the funeral home.
