Joyce Priest Obituary

Joyce Madine "Dean" Priest, 83, of Big Spring formerly of Sweetwater, died Friday, January 21, 2022. Visitation will be 9 a.m. until 9 p.m. Tuesday with family receiving friends from 5 p.m. until 7 p.m. at Myers & Smith Funeral Home. Funeral service will be Wednesday at 11 a.m. at College Baptist Church. Graveside service will be Wednesday at 3 p.m. at Sweetwater Cemetery.
Dean was born on June 24, 1938 in Clyde to Lota and Floyd Rogers. She moved to Big Spring in 1959 from Sweetwater. She was a member of College Baptist Church.
Dean taught Sunday School at Bera & College Baptist. She had taught jewelry making at Howard College. She was an avid fisher lady and reader. She was a seamstress, knitting, crocheting, and needle point. And all of the crafts were for her family and church.
Dean is survived by 1 daughter: Kathy Daniels (Gordon) of Big Spring; 1 son: Kenneth Priest of Big Spring; 4 grandchildren: Kendra Smith (Andrew), Kevin Matthews (Jessica), Rory Kristen Wheeler (Asa) & Acacia Daniels all of Big Spring; 7 great grandchildren: Derian McCrary (Elizabeth), Jesse Smith, Aislin Smith, Danni Matthews, Catti-Brie Wheeler, Lyndon Wheeler, & Arlis Wheeler all of Big Spring.
In addition to her parents and husband Gene, Dean was preceded in death by 1 son: Danny Priest; 6 brothers; and 1 great grandson.
Pallbearers will be Landon Kelley, Matt Ham, Toby Philips, Joseph Dekeyser, Cameron Chavera, & John Rios
