Martha Wafer Obituary

Martha June Wafer (Barton), 85, passed away on July 15, 2023. Martha was born on March 11, 1938, in Sweetwater, Texas, to the late Mr. Paul and Mrs. Grace Barton. She married her high School sweetheart, Donald Lynn Wafer, June 12, 1957. She was a devoted homemaker, dedicating her life to creating a loving and nurturing home for her family.
Martha was a loving, kind, and generous woman who treasured her family above all else. She cherished family gatherings and holidays, creating lasting memories with her loved ones. Martha had a special love for family vacations, particularly camping in the mountains. She also had a deep appreciation for her community in Albany, Texas. Martha enjoyed participating in community events and was always ready to lend a helping hand to those in need.
In her free time, Martha had a variety of hobbies that brought her joy. She loved camping, shopping, and decorating her home. Martha also enjoyed the occasional visit to the casino.
She is survived by her daughters, Rebecca Lynn Wafer and Lori Dianne Schulze, her son-in-law Ron Schulze, and her cherished grandchildren: Jacob Hardegree and wife Caitlynn, Mackenzie Walters and husband Mikael, Haley Madewell and husband Jacoby, and Megan Schulze and fiancé T.J. Martha was preceded in death by her beloved husband, Donald Lynn Wafer.
Martha graduated from Sweetwater High School in Sweetwater, Texas, and later attended McMurry University in Abilene, Texas, where she furthered her education.
A small, private family memorial service will be arranged to honor Martha's life. In lieu of flowers, the family kindly requests that any well-wishers consider making a donation to the Girl Scouts of the USA in Martha's memory. Contributions to this organization will fund research, programs, technology innovation and deliver leadership experience to girls nationally.
Martha June Wafer will be deeply missed by her family, friends, and all who had the pleasure of knowing her. Her loving spirit and kind heart will forever live on in our memories.
