LENN DARNELL
David "Lenn" Darnell passed away June 11, 2021. He was on his farm in Poteau, Oklahoma, tending to the garden, surrounded by his cattle and beloved dogs when he went to his heavenly home.
All who met Lenn were impacted by his kind, generous nature. Born with a servant's heart, he dedicated his life to the betterment of those around him - constantly teaching people as he helped them.
Lenn worked almost 40 years for Whirlpool in Ft Smith, AR. There, his co-workers all became a tight-knit family, continuing to meet together monthly after Whirlpool closed.
Lenn was born to Burl & Mary (Ribera) Darnell July 25, 1955, in Wilburton, OK. On February 14, 1975, he married Barbara Odom. Lenn and Barbara welcomed Danny in 1976. They welcomed Melody in 1979. Then in 1980, they welcomed Rodney. Lenn is preceded in death by his parents Burl & Mary and father-in-law, James Odom.
He is survived by wife, Barbara; three children, Danny, Melody and Rodney; mother-in-law Edna Odom; five sisters and one brother-in-law, LaWanda Jo Heacock, Carney Frazier, Edwinna LeMay, Marlene Lewis, Geraldine & Jimmy Tucker; one brother, Chris Darnell; eight brothers- and sisters-in-law, Ronnie & Sue Odom, Sharon & Pat Bozarth, Glenda Duncan, Steve & Susan Odom, Gary & Connie Odom, Connie & Bobby Woodson, Curtis & Missy Odom, and Brenda Murray; one uncle, Vernon Ribera; one aunt, Eloise Willis; numerous nieces, nephews, cousins and close friends.
The funeral service will be Thursday, June 17th at 10am at Evans & Miller Funeral Home, 411 Dewey Ave, Poteau, OK 74953, with family visitation Wednesday evening 6:00-8pm at Evans and Miller as well. Interment will be at Vaughn Cemetery in Gilmore, OK. Pallbearers are Wesley and Bradlee Odom, Sam Williams, Kevin Fout, Curtis LeMay, Eric Heacock, James Marshall, Chris Ford, and Jody Thompson.
