Marvin Matlock Obituary

Marvin Matlock
Marvin L Matlock, 78 of Fort Smith, AR passed peacefully Sunday May 30th. He was born in Rudy, AR, January 15, 1943. He graduated from Spiro High School and became a Master electrician and was founder and president of Matlock Electric Company until his retirement. His proudest professional achievement was Matlock Electric which still thrives today. He served on the Electric Code Appeals Board, was a member of International Association of Electrical Inspections and was instrumental in starting the Fort Smith Electrical JATC. Marvin loved giving back to the community especially when it involved children. He served on the Board of Directors for the Girls Shelter, was an active alumnus of the Fort Smith Boys and Girls Club, and his greatest joy was being Santa Claus and buying gifts for the Gregory Kistler Center children. Marvin was a lover of life. Among his passions were fishing, bald eagles, traveling with his wife and family (a mission trip to Tanzania was a favorite), a good cigar, and spending time with his family. He never met a stranger and was loved by all who affectionately called him "Hunnee". Marvin was preceded in death by his parents, Garland (Doc) and Mary Matlock, his siblings, Raymond and J.D. Matlock, Vivian Hart, and Alice Creekkiller.
He is survived by his wife of 58 years, Anne of the home; a daughter, Marvina Matlock Hart and her husband Victor of Fort Smith; a son, Gregory Matlock and his wife Kristina of Cookson, OK; a sister, Gerelene Kilgore of Van Buren, AR; a brother, Donnie Matlock of Fort Smith, AR; four grandchildren, Payton Matlock Hart of Fort Smith, Cheyanne Matlock of Chengdu, China and Luke and Laynee Matlock of Centerton, AR and many much beloved nieces, nephews and great nieces and nephews.

We are saddened by this loss, I will miss our daily chats about the suzuki and gaining much electrical knowledge from him and he had a lot! I will miss talking about all our many projects. He was always worried about "bugging me" but it was never a bother; Marvin your zeal to enjoy life to the last minute is inspiring. On a good day he would be watching for me to come home and zoom across the street on that scooter! He will be missed so much.
