Robert Lim Obituary
Robert Lim, 82, of Poteau died Oct. 30, 2020.
Memorial service will be 1 p.m. Thursday at 28409 Monks Drive in Poteau. Arrangements are under the direction of Dowden-Roberts Funeral Home.
He is survived by a daughter, Emily Lim; two sons, Gregory and Timothy Lim; and three grandchildren.

I remember my 6th uncle, Robert Lim, as my father's tall, handsome beloved younger brother who as a young man, moved away to live in the States. As his niece, I have only had the privilege of meeting him and his then young family once in Malaysia, however 6th uncle has never been far from our thoughts and throughout much of my life, his name has often been brought up in our family. This strong bond between 6th uncle and his siblings has remained over the years despite the physical separation over the seas. Turning up unannounced appears to be a family trait passed on by grandfather (6th uncle's father). I remembered the pleasure and joy of seeing our grandfather on his unexpected visits to our family when I was growing up. The precious memories of these people who have passed on remains in our hearts. We grieve with 6th uncle's children, grandchildren, friends and his two remaining older brothers who have lost a dearly beloved father, grandfather, friend and brother.

We could only recall his handsome young look from his visit. From his photos we could see the same resemblance with the brothers and sister in Malaysia.

Emily was my 7th grade science teacher and now is one of my dearest friends. Although I only met Robert a few times at Emily's family events, there is no question he was very much a sincerely loved father and grandpa. His legacy will live on through the values he instilled in his family and the incredible children he raised. Sending lots of love your way, and may your cherished memories comfort you during this difficult time.

We have known Emily Lim since before her girls were born. Emily and I met at Union Public Schools and became fast friends. We attended several gatherings where Mr Lim was there and we always enjoyed visiting with him. I know how much he will be missed and how deeply he was loved by his family. Our condolences to all.

Robert will always be counted as our good friend. We have had a lot of great times together going to the races and eating a lot. He always had a place at our table and we always enjoyed having him there. He helped us and we helped him. Friends forever. Carolyn & Perry

Deepest condolences Greg, Tim and Emily. I remember the discrimination Uncle Robert experiences in Oklahoma. But he never once complained. He held his head high and was one of the proudest, most patriotic Americans I ever knew. Glad he is making his way back home to the Rocky Mountains.

Robert was always a kind and friendly man who never forgot who Clem and I were even many years after he moved away from Heavener. We ran into him occasionally in Poteau and were always happy to see him. I know you will all miss him so much. Prayers for the family.
