Sharon Bollin Obituary

Sharon Gail Bollin
Sharon Gail Bollin, 65, of Fort Smith, peacefully began her eternal life surrounded by her family on Wednesday, August 11, 2021. Born in Ozark, Arkansas on March 7, 1956, to Betty Jean and Delton Price, the family relocated to Fort Smith in the summer of 1967 where she met and married her soul mate, Jerry O. Bollin, Jr. They had 44 beautiful years of marriage blessed by 4 children, 5 grandchildren and numerous faithful dogs.
She was a graduate of Southside High School and received her nursing degree from Westark College. She was a gifted Registered Nurse and Diabetes Educator who after retirement continued to support the health of the underserved by passionately volunteering as a board member for River Valley Primary Care Services for 10 years. In this role, she never ceased to advocate for providing equitable and accessible healthcare to her community. She was an active member of Woodlands United Methodist Church where she spent numerous hours feeding the homeless through their partnership with Church On The Streets and serving the church in any other way she was called. She also chaired the Elks Lodge Drug Awareness Program for Children in the River Valley community, just to name a few.
Sharon was known to her friends and family for her tenacious, spirited soul. Any endeavor was selflessly led with passion and to its fullest. If there was a charge or something needed to be "righted", this was Sharon's forte. She exemplified this by setting the front line for outreach to the unfriended, the forgotten, the unloved and lost. She fed the wandering, hungry and gave shelter to them too. She tirelessly revealed her servant heart, working only for the joy of humbly serving others.
Everyone knew where to find Sharon, her patio--where it was always open, and a dog-hair filled chair was waiting for you. This was the place Sharon and Jerry spent many days and nights, in their most serene place on earth. That patio holds the secrets or "not so" secrets of uncounted friends, family and not uncommonly strangers...soon to be friends. She loved gardening in her backyard and all things outdoors. A country girl at heart, you could find her fishing from the banks, hands in the dirt, among her pine trees or around the table with her siblings playing an intense game of UNO—enjoying the simple things in life.
Sharon was preceded in death by her parents Betty Jean and Delton Price. She left behind three loving siblings: Dr. Nancy Mendenhall and husband Dr. Bill of Gainesville, FL, Blake Price and wife Becky of Little Rock, AR and Grant Price and wife Cheryl of Mansfield, TX, along with 5 nieces and nephews and great nieces and nephews. The 4 children she was so proud of: Tarah Griffis and husband Ryan of Richardson, TX, Jerry Bollin III and wife Leslie of Fort Smith, Stacey Bearden and husband Daniel of Fort Smith, Alicia Bollin and fiancé Tommy Clark of Park City, UT. Her 5 beautiful grandchildren, who knew her as Nomie: Emerson Griffis, Ewan and Mabel Bollin and Myles and Murray Bearden. And as Sharon wrote herself, "the man who supported 'most' of my endeavours, stood by me 'usually' and allowed me to grow without telling me how, my soul mate", Jerry O. Bollin Jr.
The family held a private memorial service and will plan a Celebration of Life to be held in the fall for all to join. Sharon filled her yard with beautiful flowers for her family to enjoy (and take care of), so asked that in lieu of flowers, please consider contributing in her memory to River Valley Primary Care Services, Attn: Nikki P.O. Box 130 Ratcliff, AR 72951 or Antioch Youth & Family, donate at the website www.antiochyouthfamily.org/donate or in typical Sharoni fashion, simply spend a day volunteering at a local charity or helping a person in need.
