John L. Walters Sr, 67, went to be with the Lord on November 11, 2024.
Born February 6, 1957, in Fort Leonard Wood, Mo., he was the son of the late James Lewis Walters and Francis Lee Dunkel Walters. He spent his last 30 years in Max Meadows, Va., with the love of his life, wife, Sheila "Whitefeather" Walters.
John loved being a truck driver for over 40 years. He also adored his family and beloved pets, especially Rascal, Angel, Skooter and Bosley.
John was preceded in death by his parents; sister, Marie Michelle Walters; brother, Joseph Walters; grandson, Cam Anderson; and great grandson, Theodore Miller.
John is survived by his wife; five children, John Walters II and wife, Dianna, of Conway, S.C., Justin Walters of Myrtle Beach, S.C., Tammy Nixon of Rural Retreat, Va., Michael Anderson and wife, Heather, and Angela Tate all of Max Meadows, Va.; one sister, Sherry Jo Williams of Illinois; five brothers, Jeff Walters and wife, Kim, of Oregon, Jimmy Walters and wife, Wanda, Jerry Walters, Jan Walters, and Jay Walters all of Virginia; 16 grandchildren, Kevin Lawrence, Donna Dunford and husband, Josh, Aurora Anderson, Nikki Anderson, Walter Miller Jr and wife, Megan, Matthew Tate and wife, Ashley, Logan "LJ" Walters, Carlee Burton, Aulbree Walters, Jaxon Walters, Jack Hulon, Grady Hulon, Luke Walters, Elliot Grant Walters, Caydan Hulon, and Landon Tate; Eleven Great Grandchildren: Trinity Williams, Kaytlin Lawrence, Brooklynn Hillenburg, Shealyn Lawrence, Logan Alley, Jonah Hale, David Miller, Lilly Dunford, Samuel Lawrence, Rhyland Burton, and Alexzander Strouth; and one special niece, Sherrie Singleton and husband, Scott.
A special thank you to the staff of Galax Health and Rehab, especially Jessica Blankenship, and Mountain Valley Hospice for taking such good care of him in his final days.
Per John's request, there will be no service for him. Instead, if your heart leads you to, please say a prayer for him and his family.
