Judith Fiebig Obituary

Judith Carter Fiebig

November 13, 1943 - November 28, 2024

Wytheville, VA

Judith "Judy" Carter Fiebig, 81, passed away peacefully Thursday, November 28, 2024, leaving behind a legacy of compassion, grace, and unwavering optimism.

She was a devoted mother to Wendy Martin and Matthew Fiebig, a proud and loving Nana to Manoa Wurth, and a cherished sister to Patricia Combs. Judy's life was a testament to the power of kindness, understanding, and the ability to "agree to disagree" with grace and dignity. Judy was a woman who treated everyone she met with equal respect, never seeing anyone as more or less important than another. Her capacity to befriend and relate to people from all walks of life-regardless of differing perspectives-was one of the qualities that endeared her to so many. Her optimistic outlook on life was contagious, always believing that even in difficult moments, there was hope, and that good things could emerge if one simply held on and looked for the good in the situation. A proud Navy nurse during the Vietnam War, Judy went on to have a fulfilling 34-year career as a mental health counselor with Mount Rogers Mental Health, where she deeply impacted countless lives. In addition, she worked part-time as a psychiatric nurse at Twin County Hospital and ran a support group for abused women, offering guidance and compassion to those in need. Judy was also a faithful member of All Nations Church, where she participated in the ANC Women Warriors Bible study group and found strength in her faith. Judy's love for creativity and the arts was evident throughout her life. She found joy in sketching, painting, and making jewelry, and she had a special connection to nature, particularly red cardinals, sunsets, flowers, and butterflies. The beach and the ocean were among her greatest joys, offering her a sense of peace and renewal. Her eye for beauty also extended to thrifting, where she often enjoyed hunting for hidden treasures. Her sparkling personality, sharp wit, and infectious sense of humor made Judy a joy to be around. She cherished her lifelong friendships with Gloria Harrell, Rita Hendley, and Patti Campbell, and her relationships with family and friends were marked by unwavering love and loyalty. Judy also had a deep love for simple pleasures, including spending time on Facebook, working on crossword puzzles, and watching crime shows. Judy's strong faith in God, her gentle spirit, and her enduring optimism touched the lives of all who knew her. Her love for family, her commitment to others, and her joy in the small moments will forever be remembered by those who were blessed to have known her.

She was preceded in death by her parents, Edward & Virginia Carter Warren; and sister, Mary Warren Zedd.

Judy is survived by her daughter, Wendy Fiebig Martin of Fredericksburg, VA.; son, Matthew Edward Fiebig of Wytheville, VA.; sister, Patricia Combs of Saltville, VA.; grandson, Manoa Raine Wurth of New York City; several nieces, nephews and their families; special friends, Patti Campbell of Wytheville, VA., Gloria Harrell of Virginia Beach, VA. and Rita Hendley of Huntsville, AL.

Graveside services will be held Saturday, December 14, 2024, at 11 a.m. at Ridgedale Cemetery, 1112 Ridgedale Road, Rich Valley (Saltville) VA., with Pastor Craig Caylor officiating. Friends and family are asked to meet at the cemetery.
