April 30, 1959 - December 3, 2024
Thomas Meek Litton, Tommy, 65 of Bland, passed away Tuesday, December 3, 2024, surrounded by his loved ones. He was born April 30, 1959, in Mercer County and was preceded in death by his father and mother, Robert Warren Litton and Lucy B. Litton.
He graduated from George Wythe High School in 1977 and Emory and Henry in 1981. He was soon hired by Industrial Gas which later changed to Airgas where he gained many great friendships over the 43 years. He was a very dedicated employee and took a lot of pride in his work. Tommy spent his early years hunting which changed overtime to collecting antlers in the woods with his four-legged best friend. He took pride in his family farm and enjoyed working on his antique trucks and cars. Most importantly, Tommy was a devoted son, husband, and father.
He will be lovingly and affectionately missed by his wife of 35 years, Melinda Fields Litton; his son, Luke Litton; and his best friend, Bo.
He will also be missed greatly by his brothers, Robert "Bob" W. Litton, Jr. and wife, Janet, and Jim and Kristen Litton; and his many cousins, nieces, and nephews.
Our family would like to give thanks to the wonderful teams of Wythe County Community Hospital and Carilion New River Valley Medical Center Critical Care Unit who went above and beyond to bring comfort to our family. We would also like to give a special thank you to Tommy's "on-call nurse," cousin, and best friend Mary Bowen.
Funeral service will be 11 a.m. Tuesday, December 10, 2024, at Grubb Funeral Home Chapel conducted by Pastor Jim Drake. There will be a graveside service following the service at 2 p.m. at the Newberry Oaklawn Farm Cemetery for those who wish to attend. The family will receive friends Monday, December 9, 2024, from 5 to 7 p.m. at Grubb Funeral Home. In lieu of flowers donations may be made to Bland Ministry Center, PO Box 211 Bland, VA 24315 or to Bland Rescue Squad, 67 Orchard View Lane Bland, VA 24315.
