Thomas Junior Roseberry II
December 18, 1946 - October 27, 2021
Thomas Junior Roseberry II went home to be with the Lord on October 27, 2021. He was born on December 18, 1946, to Thomas J. and Wanda Deck Roseberry in Pulaski, Va.
He was a loving, dedicated husband to Rita Thompson Roseberry. They were happily married for 55 years and made their home in Bland County in 1979. They have four children, Stina, T.J., Staci and Seth.
Tom began his career of Serving and Protecting with honor and integrity in 1968 with the Virginia State Police. He served faithfully for a total of 39 years. In 1988, he was elected Sheriff of Bland County for one term. From there he went on to serve as Captain of Investigations for the Montgomery County Sheriff's Office. He then returned to the State Police until his retirement in 2012. In 2015, he was again elected as Sheriff of Bland County. He finished out his career serving 3½ years before retiring in 2019 with a total of 51 years of police service. He also served in the Army Reserves for 27 years and was a member of the American Legion for Bland County.
He loved the Lord and attended the Bastian Church of God. He loved spending time with family and friends. He loved to ride his motorcycle, loved to mow and loved his dog "Buddy".
He was preceded in death by his parents and one sister, Carolyn Roseberry Elam and her husband "T".
Left to cherish his memory are his wife, Rita T. Roseberry; daughter, Stina R. Wilburn and husband, Mark, of Bland; son, Thomas J. Roseberry III of Wytheville; daughter, Staci R. Leewright and husband, Mike, of Bland; and son, Seth E. Roseberry and fiancée, Jody Powell, of Bastian. He had ten grandchildren whom he adored, Brandon Wilburn, Lance Wilburn, Jason Wilburn, Jennifer Wilburn, Dylan Bruce, Jack Leewright, Olivia Leewright, Jesse Leewright, Kyra Powell and Raven Roseberry; and sisters, Pansy Pannell and husband, Chuck, of Greensboro, N.C., and Sandee R. Janney and fiancé, Darrell Taylor, of Pulaski, Va.; Dot Kidd of Rocky Gap, who was like a second mother to him., numerous nieces, nephews, cousins, and very close friends.
Memorial services will be held at 6 p.m. Saturday, November 6, 2021, at the Bland Funeral Chapel with the Virginia State Police Chaplain and the Reverend Cliff Bowman. The family will receive friends Saturday from 4 p.m. until service time. The Bland American Legion Post #20 will conduct military honors. Due to the Covid situation, those who prefer may watch the live streamed service on Facebook Bastian Church of God.
