W.G. Coleman Obituary
September 24, 1941 - July 30, 2023
W.G. "Squire" Coleman, age 81, of Max Meadows, the Piney Community, passed away Sunday, July 30, 2023. He was born September 24, 1941 in Wythe County, the son of the late Raymond and Grace Frye Coleman. He was also preceded in death by his wife, Carol Cook Coleman; two sisters, Golda Dunford and Eleanor Hubble; three brothers, Brooks Coleman, Paul Coleman and Raymond Coleman.
Squire was the owner and operator of Coleman Store in Piney for over 40 years. He was an avid golfer and loved to watch and support the Fort Chiswell Baseball Program.
Survivors include his daughter and son-in-law, Gail and Wayne Kirby, Jr. of Piney; two sisters, Claudine Porter of Piney and Elizabeth Cook of Grahams Forge; a brother, Duard Coleman of Lynchburg, VA; two grandchildren, Wayne, III and Sarah Kirby, Tye and Taylor Kirby; four great-grandchildren, Camden Kirby, Coleman Kirby, Tullsa Kirby and Timber Kirby. Several nieces, nephews and many extended family and friends also survive.
Funeral services will be held at 7 p.m. Wednesday, August 2, 2023 at Life Changers Christian Center with Pastor Chad Arnold officiating. The family will receive friends from 5 p.m. until service time at the church.
Burial will be held Thursday, 12 p.m. at Odd Fellows Cemetery in Ivanhoe.
In lieu of flowers, the family suggests memorial donations be made to the Fort Chiswell High School Baseball Program.
