Michelle Marie Monto

Michelle Marie Monto, 71, of Syracuse, passed away peacefully at home on Thursday, October 2, 2025.
A lifelong resident of Syracuse, Michelle was a beloved member of the community, known for her warm heart, infectious laugh, and unwavering loyalty. She formerly owned the Carnegie Café in the State Office Building, where her hardworking nature and welcoming spirit made her a familiar and cherished face to many. Most recently, she worked at Pointe Place Casino, where she continued to form meaningful connections and lasting friendships.
Michelle's greatest joys in life came from spending time with her family, friends, and her sister DeDe. She shared a special bond with them that brought her comfort, laughter, and love throughout her life. She had a unique gift for making people feel at home and was loved by all who had the pleasure of knowing her.
She was predeceased by her parents, James and Eleanor Monto; her brother, Ted Monto; and her longtime companion, Tony Phillips.
She is survived by her children, Jennifer (Jason) Rienhardt, Robert McKenna, and Anthony Phillips; her beloved grandchildren, El and Emily Rienhardt; her cherished niece, Melissa Monto; and her siblings, Ann (Tony) Desimone, Bob (Barbara) Monto, Dianna "DeDe" Cipriano, Jay (Sharon) Monto, and Toni Ann (Jim) Huntington. She also leaves behind several nieces, nephews, cousins, and dear friends who will miss her deeply - including many lifelong friends who held a special place in her heart. Calling hours will be held on Friday, October 10, from 11:00 AM to 1:00 PM, with a funeral service to follow at 1:00 PM at Farone & Son, Inc. Funeral Home, 1500 Park Street, Syracuse, NY.
In lieu of flowers, contributions in Michelle's memory may be made to the National MS Society or MS Resources of Central New York.
