Aaron A. Granberry III

Aaron A. Granberry III, age 90, passed on Saturday, February 6, 2016 at Jackson Hospital in Marianna, Florida. He is survived by a daughter, Teresa McMillan (Andra) of Tallahassee FL; a son, Anthony Granberry of Atlanta, GA; one granddaughter, Karmen; five grandsons, Graillen, Charles (Herika), Branden, Aaron, and Daniel; and two great-grandsons. He is also survived by a brother, John H. Granberry (Tacoma, WA); and four sisters, Deloris Granberry (Plant City FL), Ruthie Moore, Callie Thompson, and Estelle Wade, each of Tampa, FL; one sister-in-law, Mearlyn Granberry (Tacoma, WA); and several nieces and a nephews.

Mr. Granberry served in the U.S. Army, after which he graduated Fort Valley State College (Fort Valley, GA) and Tuskegee Institute (Tuskegee, AL). He taught in the Jackson County, FL school system for over 30 years. He owned and operated Peoples Funeral Home (Marianna, FL) for nearly 40 years. He also served as an usher and Sunday School teacher at Mt. Tabor Missionary Baptist Church (Marianna, FL) for several years, and was a member of Phi Beta Sigma Fraternity and Home Mission Benefits Society Grand Lodge.

Funeral services will be held at 1 PM on Saturday, February 13, 2016 at Mt. Tabor Missionary Baptist Church. Pastor Dwight Cockerham and Rev. Anthony Granberry will officiate. Funeral arrangements by Peoples Funeral Home. In lieu of flowers, the family is asking that donations be made to: The Hunt-Bond-Troup Scholarship Fund; Fort Valley State University; National Alumni Association; 1005 State University Dr., Ft. Valley, GA 31030.
