Catherine Williams Obituary

Catherine Williams Catherine Williams, 96, died Wednesday, Oct. 26, 2005, of natural causes. A memorial service will be at 10 a.m. EDT Saturday at the Parry Center at Westminster Oaks. Family will receive friends from 6 to 8 p.m. EDT today at Culley's MeadowWood Funeral Home, Riggins Road Chapel (850- 877-8191). In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to Big Bend Hospice, 1723 Mahan Center Blvd., Tallahassee, FL 32308. A longtime resident of Tallahassee, Mrs. Williams had lived for the past two years at Westminster Oaks, enjoying the daily activities and friendships developed there. For 28 years, she owned Catherine's Beauty Shop on Thomasville Road, where she touched the lives of many Tallahasseeans. Because of the untimely ill health of her husband early in their married lives, she assumed the role as head of household. By determination, sacrifice and hard work, she raised three young children while caring for her invalid husband. Through adversity, she always exhibited a cheerful spirit and Christian attitude toward those with whom she had contact. Catherine was a member of Trinity Methodist Church for more than 60 years. She was a true daughter of the Confederacy as her father fought for the 54th Georgia Infantry in the Civil War. Survivors include two sons, Kenneth Williams (and wife Janice) of Wakulla County and Johnny Williams (and wife Rita) of Tallahassee; a daughter, Ann Duket (and husband Joe) of Atlanta; four grandchildren; and two great-granddaughters. She was preceded in death in 1971 by her husband, J. Clyde Williams; two brothers; and three sisters.
