Charles Chick Obituary
Tallahassee - Charles Dillon Chick, age 30, passed away December 5, 2020, in Tallahassee.
Dillon was born on April 17, 1990, in Tallahassee to Charles H. and Gwen Owens Chick. He was a 2008 graduate of Lincoln High School and earned his Associate's Degree from Tallahassee Community College. Dillon served in the United States Navy where he trained to be a rescue swimmer. He was employed at Florida Filing for 7 years and recently promoted to Manager of Facilities at the Division of Emergency Management Services. He was caring, generous and selfless and had been known to give someone the shirt off his back. He enjoyed sports, laughing and children. Dillon will be remembered most for his willingness to help others.
In addition to his parents, Dillon is survived by his sister, Cammie Chick of Macon, GA; grandparents, Eiko "Mimi Jean" Owens of Wausau, FL; and Gene and Carol Chick of Tallahassee; aunts, Anne Ashcroft (Frank), Nancy Williams (Blair) and Margie Laney (Roger); uncles, Jim Chick (Norma) and Mike Owens and numerous cousins.
The family will receive friends from 1:00PM until 2:00 PM on Wednesday, December 9, 2020, at Bevis Funeral Home, 200 John Knox Road. The funeral service will immediately follow at 2:00PM. A private inurnment will be held at Roselawn Cemetery. The service will be livestreamed via the funeral home website. I am an old friend of gwen owens chick. 38 years ago she knew me by my old name peter krohn. She and i had a mutual friend, james v. Cook.
I am very sad to hear of her loss.
I have thought many times of her over the years. I think she's the best woman i ever met. Even today, I am upset with James, everytime I talk to him.
The idiot broke up with her sometime after I left them in the early morning hours on May the 8th 1987.
Had I been there, I would have asked gwen to marry me. Instead I went up to Canada and got married there.
Well, why would she have married a German hitchhiker anyway?

I would like to send my condolences to the family.......Dillon was a lovely young man and a good friend to my son Joshua Valentine since they were quite young.....Dillon attended my daughter’s baby shower in 2014 and he also moved me with Josh into my new home just last year. Dillon was truly an amazing man. I was blessed to get a chance to know him this past year, although I am so deeply saddened that I couldn't have known him longer. The portion of his obituary that says he would "give a person the shirt off of his back" couldn't be more true, as he did just this for me when I didn't have a shirt that I could work out in. When I tried to return it, he insisted that I keep it for myself, despite it being a very nice shirt.
I will miss you Dillon. You were an amazing man, and a dedicated friend. I look forward to the day we meet again. Fly high brother!
