Ed was my PhD advisor and friend. My first class with him convinced me that anyone who was such a great classroom teacher would be an outstanding advisor. I was not wrong. I later became a professor and tried to emulate his style and his thoroughness. One could only approximate, he was one of a kind. My sympathies to Moira and all the family. We have lost a very special person.

I was just looking in one of my books from Dr. Desloge and I thought to look him up. I am so glad to see that he lived such a long and happy life. He was my professor at FSU in the 80's and he was simply amazing. He would let me call him at home to ask him homework questions as I puzzled through his amazing and thoughtful questions. The carpentry in his office was so beautiful. I spent many happy hours in there being mentored and taught by Dr. Desloge. He was a wonderful, caring person and I am so grateful for knowing him.

I was a graduate student of Dr Desloge (MS 77). We published a paper "Noether's theorem in classical mechanics" in July 1976 which is still referenced today. He was an excellent teacher. He had an amazing way of taking a complex subject and making it clear and understandable. I enjoyed all my interactions with him (even my masters oral exam). I will always remember him as one of the great teachers and a wonderful person.

I will miss Ed, especially at the dinner "gang" dinners with our dearest friends. Ed and I shared a love of tools, and carpentry work, although he could not be outdone. His truck was full of special tools that he used with special Habitat projects. We enjoyed discussions of his newest projects, and we always sat within earshot at the dinners. Ed was one of my favorite friends, and he will definitely be missed.

My Dad and Uncle Louie, Ed's Dad, were great golfing buddies. He will be missed.

Ed, and his smile will be missed at all our "dinner gang" meals. I always tried to sit next to him to discuss our latest tools and projects. He was a good friend for decades, and I hope we meet again.
