Gary Carroll Obituary
Gary Britton Carroll passed away peacefully on Saturday, February 27, 2016, surrounded by his loving family and friends.
Gary was born in Panama City, Florida, May 20, 1947 to Okievan "Bud" and Jeanette Carroll. A graduate of Ringling School of Art, Gary retired from Florida State University in 1997, having worked there as a Publications Production Manager, Graphic Artist, and Graphic Designer for 28 years.
As a Freelance Artist, Gary illustrated books and designed the Starburst Logo for the Florida Department of Law Enforcement and many others. Gary was an avid fisherman, an expert model builder and history buff, and he loved the Florida State Seminoles.
Gary was predeceased by his parents and is survived by his wife of 44 years, Juanda Carroll, daughter Allison Carroll, son-in-law Michael Hall, mother-in law Jeraldine Cutchens, "brother of another mother" David Clark (Sheryl), long-time friends Robert Celander (Dee Dee), Karen Celander, Lynn Rogers (Kelly) and Robert "Bob" Bell.
There will be a funeral Mass at the Co-Cathedral of Saint Thomas More on Thursday, March 3 at 11 a.m. To honor Gary, please consider a contribution to Big Bend Hospice, 1723 Mahan Center Blvd., Tallahassee, Florida 32308 and Shriners Hospitals for Children, 2900 N. I just heard of Gary's death from an ex colleague in Texas. I am so sorry that I missed his funeral service.
He was the art director on one of my projects at FSU and was the source of so many great stories and I was the recipient of many big smiles and his joy coming from his warm heart. I was not alone. It was the practice of many who worked with him to stop by his workspace and get a shot of enthusiasm each day.
He was a #1 great guy that will be really missed.

I am very saddened to hear of Gary's passing and I send healing thoughts to his loved ones. He was a dear man, larger than life, funny as hell, wonderfully talented. I still repeat some of his stories (especially the one about boar hunting in wheelchairs) and his "GatorBramaNole" illustration is a treasured possession. I salute you, Gary. Thank you for the beauty and joy you brought to this world.

Allison and Juanda,
I have such fond memories of Gary and how much fun he was. I will always remember the models that he made and then how we (Allison & I ) got to go outside with him and blow them up with firecrackers... I can still hear him yelling "FIRE IN THE HOLE" Gary was awesome!
