George Richard "Skip" Evelo

George Richard "Skip" Evelo, 84, passed away January 6, 2016.

A son of the late James John Evelo and Katherine Bertha Kalber Evelo, he was born March 23, 1931, in Terre Haute, Indiana. He is also preceded in death by a grandson, Jared Alan Evelo and siblings, Jay Evelo, Mary Ellen Fears and Donnie Evelo.

He served his country in the US Air Force and retired from the Federal Correction Institute as a safety officer. He was a dedicated member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints.

Surviving are his wife of 59 years, Sonja Ann Gillis Evelo; sons, Mark Alan (Vicky) Evelo and Chris (Luz Elena) Evelo; grandchildren, Shelley Anne (Brad) Wonsch, Lindley Sue (Michael) Fredrickson, Matthew Gary Evelo, Gabriela Evelo and Carlos Evelo; granddaughter-in-law, Ashley Evelo; great-grandchildren, Raelee Wonsch, Fenway Wonsch, Makenna Fredrickson, Keegan Fredrickson and Lillian Evelo; and a brother, Michael (Mary) Evelo.

The funeral is 1:00 PM, Saturday, January 16, 2016, at the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints, 3717 Thomasville Road, Tallahassee, Florida, with interment following at Tallahassee Memory Gardens. The family will receive friends from 6:30 until 8:30 PM, Friday, January 15, 2016, at Abbey Funeral Home. In lieu of flowers, please consider a donation to the Alzheimer's Project, www.alzheimersproject.org. Sympathies may be expressed at www.abbeyfh.com.
