Herman Carter Obituary
Herman Lee Carter, 65, of Tallahassee, FL passed at home surrounded by his loving family on Sunday, June 8, 2014. Funeral services will be 1:00 p.m. Saturday, June 14, at Jerusalem Missionary Baptist Church where he served in the Ushers' Ministry. Burial with military honors will be held in Southside Cemetery. Viewing-visitation is 3-7:30 p.m. Friday at TILLMAN OF TALLAHASSEE 850-942-1950. A native of Tensaw, AL, Mr. Carter relocated to Tallahassee in 1988 from Atlanta, GA where he had been a manager with Bosch. He worked as an accountant for the City of Tallahassee before beginning a career with the Florida Department of Education in School Transportation for 23 years before retiring. He received his undergraduate degree from Tuskegee University and his Master's from Atlanta University. He served as a 1st Lieutenant (Infantry) in the United States Army, from which he was honorably discharged. He was a proud member of Omega Psi Phi Fraternity, Inc. Forever treasuring his love and legacy are: his loving wife, Leola Brookins Carter; three devoted daughters, LaTondria Carter, LaTosca Carter (TaBaris) Hooks and LaToya Carter; sister, Bertha Carter (Willie) Barnes; brother, John (Barbara) Carter, Jr.; along with several nieces, nephews, other relatives and loving friends. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made in memory of Mr. Carter to the American Diabetes Association, Memorial Contribution Center, P.O. Box 11454, Alexandria, VA 22312.

To the carter family: You are not alone in your thoughts and remembering of Herman. Herman and I grew up together I was born on the 29th of Aug Herman on the 30th. My wife Joane and visited Herman on January 2013. For comfort read 1Thessolonians chapter 4:13-18.

I am so saddened to read of Herman's passing. I worked with him at the Department of Education and he was always such a nice man, always had a smile on face. His entire family is in my thoughts and prayers.

Throughout his time at DOE/Transportation, I assisted Mr. Carter with record retrievals. He was always professional, courteous, and kind. May you all be comforted by the happy times you had with your loved-one!
