James Leighton "Jim" Long

Tallahasse - James Leighton "Jim" Long, died July 6, 2018 at his home in Woodville. He was born on August 7, 1948 to Mike and Louise Creeger Long.

Jim was preceded in death by his parents and a brother, Steve Long. Survivors include Janis Baker Long; sons Justin and Jarrett Long; brothers Terry and Curtiss (Andy) Long; sister Susan Long Brown; many nieces, nephews and cousins. He also leaves his dear friend and "adopted" daughter, Misty Alexis Tillery.

After devoting his life to working with young people, Jim retired from the Leon County School District and coaching track at FSU. Jim will be dearly missed by his family and friends. He will be remembered as a good man with a strange sense of humor who valued hard work, honesty and integrity.

An informal gathering to honor Jim's life will be held Saturday, July 14th from 3:00 p.m. until 5:00 p.m. at Riverside Café, St. Marks, FL. Susie Mozolic of Bevis Funeral Home is assisting the family with their arrangements. (www.bevisfh.com 850-385-2193)

Jim worked with us at FSU track meets and brought our hurdle moving crew with him from DISC village/ it was a fun and special time and Jim's Smile made it even more so! Mike Long gave us his home for our honeymoon, our thoughts and prayers are with the whole Long family. The Brogle Family
