June Ward Obituary

June Ryan Ward

June Ryan Ward, 95, moved on from her earthly journey to eternal rest on September 14, 2015 at Westminster Oaks Health Center. June was born on June 5, 1920 in Brooklyn, New York to Albert Holmes Odell Walker and Frances Cooney Walker. June was known as a classic beauty in her outward appearance and in her gracious, caring soul. She always had a beautiful smile for everyone. Even in her later years, June's beauty and gracious spirit shined. She had a long career in the fashion industry with Macy's, Saks Fifth Avenue, and Peck & Peck in New York City, the Hamptons, and Palm Beach. She moved to Tallahassee with her husband Bill after retirement.

June was preceded in death by her parents, four brothers, and two wonderful husbands. She was married to William Joseph Ryan for more than fifty years. They first met at the water fountain at Macy's in NYC. She and Bill were the proud parents of five daughters. After his passing, she married Robert Bloomer Ward, and together they enjoyed their twilight years.

Survivors include daughters Candice Ryan-Lederman of Miami, Joy Ryan Bean (Gregory) of San Antonio, Texas and Diann Ryan Morell, Denise Ryan Hunter and Elyse Ryan Linn (Jim) all from Tallahassee; and grandchildren Tricia, Gregg (Nancy), and Katie Bean; Michael Hunter (Christine); Brendan and Amelia Linn; Juliana Morell; and four great-grandchildren.

The Funeral Mass will be held on Friday, September 18, 2015 at 10:00 am at Good Shepherd Catholic Church. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to Big Bend Hospice. The family wishes to thank the staff of the Westminster Oaks Health Center for the kind, loving care they provided to June in her final years and Big Bend Hospice for their care and support in her final days.

Tears went down my cheeks when the nursing home told me she had passed. She was one of my favorites. (June & my mom were meal "table-mates") Sometimes, when needed, I'd help her & my mom with dinner. I'll always remember that smile of June's when I sang to her "Shine On Harvest Moon" ... ♪♪ "I ain't had no lovin' since January, February, June, or July. Snow time ain't no time to sit outdoors and spoon. Shine on, shine on harvest moon for me 'n' my gal." ♪♪ I think she got a kick out of it. She was such a dear & I'll always remember her with much much fondness. RIP June ... you're in a better place now. xoxoxoxo
