Laurie Moldenhauer Obituary

Laurie Lyn Moldenhauer Laurie Lyn Moldenhauer, 36, a beloved daughter, sister, aunt, mother and friend, died Friday, Jan. 12, 2007, after a courageous battle with cancer. The service will be at 2 p.m. EST Thursday at Culley's MeadowWood Funeral Home Riggins Road Chapel (850-877-8191) with burial at Tallahassee Memory Gardens. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to Big Bend Hospice, 1723 Mahan Center Blvd., Tallahassee, FL 32308. Laurie was born May 15, 1970 in Madison, Wis. She was a very successful manager in the cell phone industry, garnering many accolades and awards. She was well respected for her constant concerns for her customers, many of who recognized her and enjoyed seeing her in whatever venue she may have been in. Laurie was a people person, but most importantly, she was a person respected and truly liked. Laurie had many friends and extended family who will miss her bright smile, her willingness to go beyond the norm, and her love of those who mattered to her. Her passing is difficult to understand, and our loss goes beyond words, but we know she has been welcomed into the house of the Lord where her grandma and grandpa welcomed her with open arms. She is survived by her life partner, Thurston Davis; her beloved stepson, TJ, who was her life and her being; and TJ's half brother, Troy; her mother, Diane Crompton Wiedenhoeft (and Tom) of Tallahassee; her father, Mark Moldenhauer (and Chris) of Chapel Hill, N.C.; her sister, Angie Moldenhauer Johnson (and Ben); and her twin nieces, Mia and Mya Moldenhauer, for them the loss runs deep; her half brother and sister, Matthew and Jennifer Moldenhauer, and stepsister, Melissa. She was preceded in death by her grandparents, William and Evelyn Harterberger and her stepfather, Geff Crompton. We would like to especially thank Big Bend Hospice, who has traveled with us through this incredible journey and were never but a phone call away.

Your special smile and laugh and your wonderful sarcastic witt graced many a family gathering. We could always count on a game of cards with you! Say hi to grandma and grandpa. Much love to my Florida family. I know your sorrow is overwhelming.

I had the pleasure of working with Laurie and the rest of the Tallahassee "crew" for many years - we played hard, but worked harder, and she, along with the rest of us, took real pride in making a difference. I'll always remember those times, both on a professional and personal level. Those Monroe street girls really knew how to make you laugh! You will be missed, but we'll talk again, where there is never any static, dropped calls, or going over your minutes.

Enjoy the journey Laurie - it will be everything it was promised, and more.

Your smile and laughter will be miss and you words of encouragement for me and Keveena will forever be with us. Diane & Angie it was a honor to share the last days and few mintues with the three of you. Laurie will forever be in my heart. I look forward to see her again in the master house on the other side. Rest in peace my dear friend.

Laurie and Angie lived far away from me but were never far from my heart. I feel so blessed to have seen both of them just 2 months ago and to be able to spend some much needed quality time. I pray that Laurie's heaven is full of loved ones and enough jelly bellies to last an eternity. Thank you Laurie, for being a big sister to me and accepting me as part of the family those 20 plus years ago. I love you and will miss you.

Laurie was a great woman. I was blessed to meet her years ago when I dated her sister. She always had a smile on her face and was a joy to be around. She will be missed.

To the family:
I am so grateful to know that I was apart of Laurie's life for the last 12+ years. She was a very dear sister-in-law and was very special to my family as well as hers. She touched everyone lives that was touched by her smile and her friendliness. She will be missed but most of all we will see her again. Keep looking up and pressing towards the end. Be blessed.
