Melvin H. Nussbaum, Jr.

Melvin H. Nussbaum, Jr., 96, of Bainbridge, GA, passed away Thursday, September 8, 2011 at Memorial Hospital.

The graveside funeral service will be held at 2:00 p.m. on Sunday, September 11, 2011 at Oak City Cemetery in Bainbridge, GA.

The family will receive friends from 3:00 to 6:00 p.m. on Saturday, September 10, 2011 at the residence of Freddie and Deedi Nussbaum Eubanks, 1604 Douglas Drive, Bainbridge, GA 39819. Online visitors may sign the guest register at www.iveyfuneral.com. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to Temple Beth El, P.O. Box 262, Bainbridge, GA 39818.

Melvin was born February 10, 1915 in Bainbridge, GA, the son of Melvin H. Nussbaum and Byrd Lusky Nussbaum. He was a graduate of Bainbridge High School, Class of 1932, and attended the University of Alabama on a football scholarship. He graduated from the University of Georgia and attended the University of Georgia Law School. He was involved in sales and management for 45 years with Miller Hydro Company. He was a lifelong member and past president of Temple Beth El, past president of Bainbridge Rotary Club, and past president of Bainbridge Country Club.

Survivors include his son, Melvin H. "Tuffy" Nussbaum, III and his wife, Becky; his daughters, Starr N. Cole and her husband, Ed, and Deedi N. Eubanks and her husband, Freddie, all of Bainbridge, GA; his grandchildren, Hehle Cole, Ward Cole, Randee Eubanks, Benton Eubanks, Starr Eubanks, and Melvin H. "Kip" Nussbaum, IV. He was preceded in death by his wife, Florence Thompson "Flee" Nussbaum; his brother, Benton Nussbaum and his wife, Ophelia Strickland Nussbaum.
