Michael Callaway Obituary
Michael "Mickey" Callaway, 62, passed away Tuesday, February 3, at Tallahassee Memorial Hospital after a short illness. Michael was born on October 6, 1952 on his family homestead. He lived on the same property for his lifetime.
He was an avid hunter and fisherman and was content in the outdoors. He lived his life enjoying the outdoors, loving his beloved wife, and spoiling his grandkids that meant the world to him.
Michael was employed as a mechanic for the City of Tallahassee and took pride in his job serving the Tallahassee Fire Dept.
He is survived by his wife of 42 years, Nettie Mills Callaway; one daughter Jodi (John) Godwin; 2 sons Jason (Niki) Callaway, Kristopher Callaway; five grandchildren, Emily Godwin, Brian Godwin, Mallory Callaway, Jace Callaway, and Aaron Callaway; his mother, Faye McCoy Callaway; brother, Paul Callaway; sisters, Susan (Tom) Holzworth, Nancy (Delbert) Quaney; also survived by many beloved nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his brother, Wayne Callaway and father, Aaron Reeves Callaway.
Services will be held on Friday, February 6 at 10:30am at the Moore-Johnson Family Cemetery on US90. A visitation will be held Thursday, February 5 from 6-8pm at Bevis Funeral Home (2710 N Monroe Street, Tallahassee, FL). Elizabeth Chambers of Bevis Funeral Home is assisting the family with their arrangements (850-385-2193, www.bevisfh.com) In honor of his country roots, the family will be dressed in jeans. All in attendance may also wear jeans.
