Mike was one of my instructors when I went through the respiratory program at SWGTC in 1999. He challenged us be the best therapist we could be. He was fond of saying "a spider monkey can be trained to turn knobs". He imparted knowledge and at the same time reminded us that we were caring for someone's family member. My sincere sympathy to his children and family. Please know Mike touched many lives and he will be greatly missed.

I was saddened to find out about this loss. Mr. Higginbotham was my Cardiopulmonary Scienc clinical instructor at Florida A&M University, Class of 2000. I learned a great deal from him and can still remember the smile he always greeted his students with. Thanks for sharing so much of your time with us.

I grew up next door to Mike in the Bloomfield section of Macon. As kids, we were always playing baseball,
fishing, catching snakes or building forts in the the woods. He was a good person and a good friend. My thoughts and prayers got out to Matt, Patty, Mary, Martha and of course Mike's children.

I worked with Mike at the techncial college in Thomasville, GA. I remember him for his professionalism and dedication to our students. I also remember him for his quick, dry wit. I am saddened at our loss of a bright, young man whose time on earth has been far too short. I was honored to have known him. My condolences to Mike's family.

Mike served as the Director of Clinical Education for the Respiratory Care Technology program at Southwest Georgia Technical College from 1994 to 2000. He was a gifted teacher, and the students looked forward to clinical rotations. His graduates often speak of his extraordinary teaching methods. He started a mentoring program for students on our campus while he completed his Master of Education degree. He was a wonderful man, an awesome father, and a great friend.
