During her retirement years she was surrounded by family and friends and was a member of Wilson Avenue Baptist Church in Saraland, AL, where she served faithfully for many years. During her last four years she lived at the St. Augustine Plantation assisted living facility in Tallahassee, FL, where she had many friends among the residents and staff.
Nora is survived by her daughter and son-in-law, Darla Gates and the Rev. Sammy Gates of Saraland, AL; her son and daughter-in-law, Thomas Batchelor and Rosalind Ryan of Tallahassee; her sisters Grace Justice of Macon, GA and Catherine Broome and husband, Bill, of Silverdale, WA.; a sister-in-law, Wilma (Billie) Moyle and husband Douglas of Fayetteville,GA; four grandchildren, Deborah Gates Coleman and husband Keith of Chunchula, AL; Samuel (Bud) Gates and wife Tammy Weaver Gates of Satsuma, AL; Thomas Bryan Batchelor and wife Elise Hevey Batchelor, and Dallas Ladd Batchelor all of Tallahassee; seven great- grandchildren Josh Coleman and wife Carmen of Daphne, AL, Kacie Coleman of Chunchula, AL, Candace Gates Hanks and husband Chris of Saraland, AL, Samuel E. Gates, III and Kevin Mayo, Jr. of Satsuma, AL, Nicolas Batchelor and wife Destiny and Zory Batchelor of Tallahassee; three great-great grandchildren, Parker Hanks and Davis Hanks of Saraland, AL, and Belle Nichole Batchelor, born Dec. 2, 2010 in Tallahassee; and many nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her father, Thomas Brink Lasseter, her mother, Mary Imogene Grimes Lasseter, two brothers, James Lasseter and Clinton Lasseter and one granddaughter, Lori Gates Mayo.
In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to Big Bend Hospice, 1723 Mahan Center Blvd., Tallahassee, FL 32303.
