Dr. Robert H. Eder

Dr. Robert Eder, 80, of Fairhope, Alabama passed away on July 31, 2014.

Dr. Eder was born June 9, 1934 in Chicago, Illinois. He attended Lane Tech High School, University of Illinois, and the Illinois College of Podiatric Medicine from which he graduated in 1957. He was a Doctor of Podiatric Medicine until his retirement in 1998. His first practice was opened in Hollywood Florida in 1959. In 1963 he married Sylvia Tarrer. In 1974 he moved to Tallahassee, Florida, and opened the practice from which he retired in August of 1998. During those intervening years he served on the executive board of the Florida Podiatric Medical Association. He held the position of Secretary beginning in 1969 and culminated his service as President of that association in 1979. He was also instrumental in starting the Broward County Podiatry Association. Dr. Eder was instrumental in the advancement of Podiatry in each location of his practice. He was the recipient of numerous awards and acknowledgements. He believed that his most important contribution to Podiatric Medicine was the five young men and women it was his privilege to recruit and mentor into his beloved profession. In 1998 Dr. Eder retired from active practice and in 2004 he and Sylvia moved to Fairhope, AL where they resided until his death.

Dr. Eder is preceded in death by his parents, John and Hermina Eder, a sister, Margaret (Marge) Eder, and his son, Robert H. Eder Jr.

He is survived by his wife, Sylvia T. Eder of Fairhope, AL, his daughter, Debra E. Metcalf and her husband Jerrell, his beloved grandson, Joshua Metcalf all of Crawfordville, FL, his sister, Julie Loesch, of Farmington Hills, MI, his brother John Eder of Margate, FL, nephews, nieces, grandnieces and a number of dear friends.
