Paul Anderson Obituary

Obituary published on Legacy.com by Bevis Funeral Home - Tallahassee on Mar. 29, 2026.
Paul Richard Anderson passed away on March 26, 2026 with his loving wife Carol by his side. Paul was born on June 16,1944 in Chicago, IL to Henry and Helen Anderson and received his degree in Architecture from the University of Illinois. He was a practicing architect in Chicago for some years before transitioning to southern Florida via sailing his sail boat down the Mississippi River. After living in South Florida, he moved to Tallahassee where he was an architect, building contractor, artist, and creative problem solver. In particular, he designed and built a special home for his wife and himself along with a motor home. The home and motor home (a.k.a "Trekster") were much loved and enjoyed by both Paul and Carol especially as they traveled to various parts of the country to do art shows, go to campsites with water views, and visit family and friends.

Paul is survived by Carol Anderson Darling, his wife and life partner for over 40 years. He is also survived by his brother Don Anderson (Olivia) in Antioch, IL; niece Susie (Mike) Richerson in Atlanta, GA; and nephew Mike Anderson in Murfreesboro, TN. In addition he has four great nieces and nephews (K.C., Emma, and Jack Richerson and James Anderson).

Paul's primary legacy is the homes he has designed and built in Tallahassee and elsewhere, along with his various pieces of artwork that adorn so many homes and offices. In addition, Paul and Carol believe in the value of education and were joint donors of three endowments: The Anderson-Darling Family Awards for Excellence in Graduate Student Teaching and Research in the Department of Human Development and Family Science at Florida State University; the National Council on Family Relations--Darling Family Life Education Research Initiative Grant; and the Anderson-Darling Family Scholarship Fund for Students at Rock Ridge High School through the Virginia Minnesota Community Foundation. A private celebration of his life will occur at a later date.

Breanna Green of Bevis Funeral Home (850-385-2193 or www.bevisfh.com) is assisting the family with their arrangements.
