Elsie Hampton Obituary

Obituary published on Legacy.com by Bevis Funeral Home - Tallahassee on Mar. 28, 2026.
Born on February 11, 1933, in Hinson, Georgia, to Bill and Cora Bell Cardin, Elsie was the firstborn of ten children. From an early age, Elsie felt a deep calling to faith, recalling vividly the moment she felt God's presence at a revival in Tallahassee. This life-changing experience shaped a lifetime of devotion, inspiring her to share God's Word and lead by example, touching the lives of all who knew her with her love and light.

Elsie was preceded in death by her beloved husband, Jack Hampton; her parents, Cora Bell Walker (Buford) and Bill Cardin; and her siblings, Gladys Spain, Dolly Wormuth, William Cardin, Dale Walker, Marlin Cardin, and Carlin Cardin.

She is lovingly remembered by her son, Larry Hampton (Nancy); granddaughter, April Hampton (Rick); great-granddaughter, Alacia Carde (Josh); and two great-great-grandsons, Asher and Julian, as well as her siblings, Ray Cardin (Deloris), Hayward Walker (Jean), and Jack Cardin.

Elsie's life was a testament to faith, family, and service to others. She could often be found filled with warmth and kindness, whether sitting on her porch swinging or enjoying a good old fried egg sandwich and a cup of coffee. Her unwavering devotion to God will leave a lasting legacy for generations to come.

The family will receive friends1:00PM until 2:00PM on Friday, April 3, 2026 at Bevis Funeral Home, 200 John Knox Road, followed by the funeral service at 2:00PM. Interment will be at Roselawn Cemetery.

Kelly Barber of Bevis Funeral Home (859-385-2193 or www.bevisfh.com) is assisting the Hampton family with arrangements.
