William Baldock Obituary

Obituary published on Legacy.com by Bevis Funeral Home - Tallahassee on Mar. 29, 2026.
Dr. William T. "Tyler" Baldock, Sr., 80, of Tallahassee, Florida, passed away peacefully on March 26, 2026.

Born on November 6, 1945, in Charleston, West Virginia, Tyler spent much of his life in Columbus, Ohio, where he developed the strong work ethic, discipline, and values that would guide him throughout his life. He was preceded in death by his parents, Dr. William Edgar Baldock and Virginia Bobbitt Baldock.

Tyler was a proud graduate of The Ohio State University, where he earned both his Bachelor of Science degree and his Doctor of Dental Surgery degree. He later continued his advanced education at the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill, where he earned his Master of Science degree and completed his periodontal residency.

He proudly served his country in the United States Air Force, attaining the rank of Captain.

Dr. Baldock practiced periodontics in Tallahassee for 45 years, where he built a distinguished and highly respected career. Known for his skill, professionalism, integrity, and compassionate care, he earned the trust and admiration of generations of patients and colleagues. In addition to his clinical work, Tyler was deeply committed to advancing the profession of dentistry through teaching, leadership, and mentorship. He shared his knowledge with future dental professionals through his work with Tallahassee Community College and the University of Florida College of Dentistry.

He also gave generously of his time and leadership to the dental community, serving as Past President of the Southern Academy of Periodontology, the Florida Association of Periodontists, and the Leon County Dental Association. In addition, he served as a National Trustee for the American Academy of Periodontology.

Though accomplished in many ways, Tyler was most proud of the family he loved and the life he built with his wife, Rhonda. He is survived by his loving wife of 37 years, Rhonda Baldock; his children, Courtney Jordan (Chad), Ashby Sasser (Joey), and William T. Baldock, Jr. (Sarah); his cherished grandchildren, Downing and Catie Tyler Jordan, Cameron and Caleb Sasser, and Elizabeth Baldock; his sisters, Beth Fisher (Dennis Welch), Cindi Calvert (Scott), and Lynn Schaftlein (Richard); his sister-in-law, Julie Watts (Glynn); his nieces, Annalee and Amilynn Watts, and Sara Cain; and his nephews, Blake Fisher, Jeff Schaftlein, Scott Schaftlein, and Cooper Wandling.

Tyler will be remembered for his steady presence, quiet strength, unwavering dedication to his family, and the generosity with which he shared his knowledge and gifts with others. His legacy lives on in the family he cherished, the patients he cared for, the students he mentored, and the colleagues and friends who were fortunate to know him.

A memorial service will be held on Tuesday, April 14, 2026, at 2:00 p.m. at Trinity United Methodist Church, 120 W. Park Avenue, Tallahassee, Florida 32301. A celebration of Tyler's life will follow from 4:30 to 6:30 p.m. at Golden Eagle Country Club, 3700 Golden Eagle Drive East, Tallahassee, Florida.
