James "Jim" Howard Anderson

James "Jim" Howard Anderson, 67, of Omaha, passed away on March 24, 2026.

Born on April 12, 1958, Jim was a beloved husband, father, grandfather, brother, and friend.

Jim grew up the youngest of four siblings near the Jefferson School neighborhood, where he and neighborhood buddies wouldgo looking for (usually wholesome) trouble. He was a proud Central High School and UNO graduate, earning his Masters in Public Administration while raising his first baby. Jim had a dedicated career with the City of Omaha as a City Planner working in community development for 32 years before retiring and enjoying time with his wife, children, and grandchildren.

Jim loved listening to music especially rock n' roll, soul, and folk music from the 1960s and 70s. He could often be found in a rocking chair or doing chores around the house, Bob Dylan's harmonica playing loudly from his headphones. He was known by those close to him for his understated sense of humor, sharp wit, and the sincere interest in and love for his family.

Jim is survived by his loving wife of 45 years, Valerie; children, Mary (Rusty) Anderson, William Anderson, Claire (Jim) Hubbard; grandchildren, Douglas, Colin, Mira, and Samuel; siblings, Ellen (Anton) Piskac, Floyd "Buzz" Anderson, and David (Cecelia) Anderson.

He is preceded in death by his parents, Floyd "Andy" and Martha Anderson.

VISITATION: Monday, March 30th, from 5 to 7 p.m., at West Center Chapel.

MEMORIAL SERVICE: Tuesday, March 31st, 10:30 a.m., at West Center Chapel, with a luncheon immediately following in the West Center Chapel Community Room.
