Rowena Wilkonson Obituary

Rowena Rae Wilkonson Rowena Rae Wilkonson, a native Oklahoman and longtime Sapulpa resident, died Thursday, September 27, 2007, in Tallahassee. The funeral service will be at 10:30 a.m. Wednesday, October 3, at the First United Methodist Church in Sapulpa with the Reverend Darryl Owen officiating. Entombment will follow in Green Hill Mausoleum under the direction of Smith Funeral Home. Memorials may be made to First United Methodist Church, Sapulpa, Oklahoma, or Big Bend Hospice, 1723 Mahan Center Blvd., Tallahassee, FL 32308. Culley's MeadowWood Funeral Home, Riggins Road Chapel (850-877-8191) is handling local arrangements. She attended schools in Tuttle, Oklahoma, and Oklahoma City, Oklahoma, and graduated from the University of Oklahoma. Born in Oklahoma City on March 22, 1916, Rowena moved to Sapulpa with her husband Edward Wilkonson after their marriage in 1941. Edward Wilkonson preceded her in death in 1998. Rowena Wilkonson had been an active member of the First United Methodist Church of Sapulpa and the Esther Circle. She was a charter member of Chapter DT of PEO. She is survived by two daughters, Nancy Cordill of Tallahassee, Fla., and Barbara Sheridan of Houston, Texas; a son-in-law, Robert H. Sheridan; four grandchildren, Philip E. Kyle, Kate M. Kyle, Perry O. Teague and Kimberly K. Azzollini; and six great-grandchildren.
